Hi,

I'm considering changing my Tie Rod End on my 92 colt (FWD). I do not have a problem with my tie rod end, but I want to make it as prevention. I did few search, but most of them were about "bump steer".

I plan to use Moog , p/n ES2937RL ; Is there a better Moog ?

Do you recommend me to change ma Inner Tie Rod ?

For those who have done this before, should I be prepare to heat to rod ? (like having a "good time" removing the old parts ?). From what I see, it not looking too much "dirty and rusty".

Any advise are welcome !

N.b. ; I'm using OEM hub (colt / mirage 89-92) , with power steering

It depends on how badly rusted it is. I've had tie rods that looked real bad but broke free with a wrench and a hammer tap and others that looked fine but needed to be cut off (it's usually the ball end, the nut rusts to the shaft and then the whole thing spins in the socket when you try to break it free). You just don't know until you take them off.

I doubt your inners are bad, they usually last since it's just a metal rod really. Make sure you get tie rods with greaseable fittings and screw them in *after* you install the part, way too easy to break one of them off. Then grease it up with some good lube. Wouldn't hurt to use some anti-sieze on the threads either for the next time you take them apart since the torque and cotter pin will keep it from coming loose.

I like to do all of the parts in the frontend at the same time, tierods, struts, and sway bar end links. It's amazing the difference it makes in some cars.

Thank you for sharing. This gives me an idea on what I may have to deal with it.
