Hello! Bad news, my 90' GST tranny it's bad now, 2nd grinds bad and probably a shift fork it's broken because sometimes stays in 3rd even if I shift to other gears, also sometimes 3rd it's not where it supposed to be, well i have this 95 GST transmission and since I can't find a replacement locally for my Colt i would like to see if i can use that one, I know splines are bigger so i would need other set of axles, but it's possible to make a 2g tranny work on our Colts?

Other than the axles, they should be the same. U will have a couple unused mount points. I can't see why not

Sell it and get the transmission which does not have the mounts on the belhousing, but on the block. It will be a big hassle.

90 or 91-92.5 DSM FWD using differentials with 25 spline axles. Unknown axle territory using a 2G trans. Fabbing mounts for the front, of the trans to mount where the cross member accepts the mounts. Not sure how the rear mount works. Seals, axles, mounts, not sure how it fits near the frame side of the trans, etc. Hassle. 8)

Tim, you're thinking about putting a 1g trans in a 2g dsm. His mounts will already be on the engine block so he can just remove the front and rear mounts from the trans and only worry about the top one.

The larger diff splines are still an issue though. Maybe buy 1gb fwd turbo axles and elantra LCA's?

Yeah pretty much I just have to remove the mount brackets from the bell housing and will see if she fits...

Yes. It likely bolts up, using your starter plate that is installed now.
I was thinking about having to use the front trans mount to the trans versus the block. Just won't have to use the trans mount for the front at all. Front mount will be the block to the crossmember.

I don't know if a 2G clutch slave has to used or not, but there is a modification to them if you do have to use one. See if your current one fits right up and where the fork sits on this trans and when the new one goes on. Little things to reference for the sake of it. And by where it sits, I mean at te boot on the casing, front to back spacing of where the fork protrudes.

Thanks guys, well this what im doing right now since i have on my 2g a f5m31 from a 94 Galant, I'm taking that one off to put it on the Colt, in that way i can use the 2g f5m33 for my GST, both transmissions have the 2g shape it's just a lil difference on the gear ratio, also i can save my current axles on the Colt if i go for the f5m31...

F5M31 should be a KM210. Should work just fine. Just be aware that the shifter arms roll pin on the shaft at the front of the trans, is a PITA to hammer out even with heat. I'm glad 89Mirageman cuts the shafts for the arms he sends out because otherwise I would have been heating the seal, and beating on the case a whole bunch. I'd rather have my vice at work, take all that beating.

I do have a spare set of csm shifter arms if you need them. Although I think the 94-98 Galant transmission arm is bent already, not positive though.

Well I mounted the transmission and everything was fine until I tried to put the starter :(, the damn starter plate was not the right one for this tranny so now i need a 2g DSM starter plate plus drop the tranny again...

Ok about these f5m31 transmissions, I have been using these for years and they seem to handle abuse pretty well, of course they aren't indestructible but they work great, almost like a turbo transmission, the good thing is that you can find them less abused than f5m33 and you don't have to replace clutch and flywheel like you do with f5m22...

You are correct. Odds of getting an F5M31 from a turbo Mirage or Colt, are slim. Odds will be in your favor of finding a used Sonata 2.4L transmission. Lowest torque capacity of all the transmissions that saw turbo use from Mirages, up to the Eclipses/Evos.
