Well i had found out a lot of information before your post but had not put the information to use. I posted a seal earlier that actually looks to work perfect. no more awd to fwd cx axles seal glueing together. i will be installing the dsm intermediate shaft and csmturbo cv axle today. thnaks for the shim tip |

I'm working on my csm with a 6bolt 4g63 motor, 91 turbo 5 speef transmission, and am using the awd drivers sidea axle. I just got it bolted on today, and it wad like mentioned in op's post. I did have to shim it out about 3/16, but it seemed like the holes where vertically of also. Even with the axle hanging loose and the cv joints rotated to where the had the last pressure it seemed like the threaded holes in the block where just a tiny bit to low. I had to press down on the midshaft to get the bolts to start. Is this kind of a normal thing? Should I pull the shaft back out and massage the bolt holes to allow it to raise up some? |

If you have the dsm ac compressor bracket you won't need any spacer. If you don't run AC just trim the ear off that bracket because its the perfect width. I'd also use the oem bolts because they have a special taper on the end. Also note that on the dsm intermediate shafts theres a difference between the auto and manual and the auto one won't work on a manual trans. |

is there a different between the turbo axles compared to the 1.5? both w/ 5 speed manual tranny. would the axles differ on the transmission you are using? where can I locate the tranny code? to see if those beefier sturdy turbo axles can be fitted. |

Yes, the 1.5l axles consist of a long axle and short axle. Turbo axles consist of two equal length axles and an intermediate axle that bolts to the back of the block. The axles should work the same, auto/manual, as long as you're using a dsm transmission and not the 1.5 transmission. The tranny code is on the bellhousing iirc. F5M33=Manual fwd dsm transmission W5M33=Manual awd transmission F4A22=Auto fwd transmission W4A33=Auto awd transmission |

OK so I have a big failure weekend. I am super butt hurt about the entire event. I just got ticked off and went longboarding both Saturday and Sunday. Found out my turbo was blown (Sat). Sunday, I went to insert the seal with the trans in the car. I used a 32mm socket to pop it in. I thought it was going in smooth aka crooked and bent. I am ordering another this week. I am also going to find a non dealership part number for the MD707184. From my quick measurements with a caliper. MD707184 has the ID of a AWD Intermediate shaft and I did slip it on the intermediate shaft. It had a nice seal. The MD707184 had roughly the same OD as the FWD seal. I didn't care to measure it to much and it was within .1 of a mm so I went to install it like a child rushing through hw to play video games. I will get better results this next weekend as it will be on the road. |

I'm also sure there are OEM mirage turbo intermediate shaft spacers. I don't remember why, but maybe because the mirage doesn't use the AC compressor bracket for the int. shaft. |
