I have been searching without much success. It seems many folks are upgrading the 14b, along with the 1G MAF, IC, and perhaps even an SAFC.

In short I don't need a ton of power. I have no goals of going over 200whp, ever. I will not modify the stock exhaust (except the manifold). I basically just want something that spools quickish, but gives me a bit more power/higher end. It would be ideal If I can get away with keeping the stock MAF, FPR, and all that.

Anyways, I searched and it seemed like the 13b may be my best bet (and it appears to be an easier install):

I also found this part's list for the 14b:

13g's are fairly uncommon, as they only came on 1g automatic turbo DSM's. If you can find one, it's a direct swap for the stock turbo, you don't have to change anything, because it still uses the TD04 center cartridge. Would be a nice upgrade over the 11b. Should be able to support 200whp with the right mods.

14b is more common, although they are still pretty hard to find, as most of them are old as hell and either blown or cracked to hell by now. This uses a TD05 center cartridge, so you need the oil and water lines from a 1g manual turbo DSM. You'd also want to upgrade to a 2g eclipse turbo exhaust manifold when you're doing this, and try to find a better 02 sensor housing as well, so everything matches. You can use one from any 1g manual turbo DSM or 2g/EVO I-III whatever.

If you use a 1g MAF on your 61t, it will lean you out, because it is larger than the 1.6L unit. You'll want an S'AFC to make up the difference, and you'll also want 450cc injectors, or possibly even larger like 560cc injectors from an EVO 8/9. Consider a larger fuel pump as well, as the stock one is only meant to support 135hp.

Thanks for the thorough response. I would prefer the 13b, then. Though I may have trouble finding one. I assume I can just hook it with the stock 13b wastegate and run it? What psi would it running at, any idea?

It's a 13g. Pretty sure the stock wastegate is around 9-10psi. Not enough boost to make the power you want to make.

Any idea how much power I would gain from switching over? Maybe 20whp (at stock psi)?

A stock 61t only boosts about 7psi. Hard to say how much you'd gain. Are you going to be intercooled? If not, turning up the boost won't do much for you. The 13g, and the 14b for that matter, are heat pumps.

I may try to throw on a stock 1G IC while I'm doing this. But to clarify - the 13g will bolt on the stock equipment w/o modification, including the stock downpipe?

A stock side mount intercooler is easy to install. You can remove your battery and tray and use a hole saw to drill a hole in your inner fender so you can mount the intercooler and run stock 1G DSM piping to it. You may also want to start looking into how you're going to control boost. A manual boost controller will work and are easily available on eBay. Or you could go the more expensive route and get your hands on an electronic boost controller which is much more accurate and controls the boost better. If you can get your hands on a front mount intercooler from an Evo, that would be your best bet. Then get on eBay and buy yourself a piping kit for a 1G DSM or Evo. Either way you plan to go, you NEED some kind of inter cooling system. If not you're just going to be pumping hot air into the system and that would make all of your efforts pointless. I was able to make really good usable power with the 61T, a 14b, a 1G turbo DSM ECU, 450cc injectors, and a side mount intercooler in my 92 Colt. Honestly, it was much more usable power than when I swapped it for the 63T.
