I am rebuilding my GB32T engine and need a point of clarification. Is it necessary to purchase and use new head bolts for this engine or can you reuse the existing ones? |

Unless they are torque to yield fasteners you can reuse them as long as the threads are good. I can't imagine them being that much though so it would still be a good idea to do so. |

^^^agree, check the thread and condition of the bolts, if they are rusty or the thread grooves have some imperfections, they may not be good for reuse... |

Should be the same or similar as a 4g37. See if you can get some of those. |

When you find a manual that lists the torquing procedure, you will know if they are standard bolts or torque to yield style. DSM's switched over from 1G to 2G (or standard to torque to yield) with 7 bolt blocks. Be very surprised if an older engine from Mitsu, had torque to yield. US car manufacturers like GM had 3.1L's with torque to yield in the mid 90's too. |

Fel-Pro gasket catalog will tell you if bolts should be replaced, but either way I would replace them --cheap insurance-- |

Well, I am rebuilding my 4G15 and the head bolts on it are Torq to yield. Its a 91 Colt. I ordered new Head bolts just to be on the safe side and found out that ya have to special order the right head bolts for the colt. I got the wrong size 9mm*100 for the newer 4G15 ('92+?) They were to short for the block. And wouldn't take them back and wanted me to pay for the special order out of TX for the right ones 10mm... So be sure to check the size of 'em and take one in to show them thats the one you want! |
