The best my CSM ever felt in the corners was running 1g DSM AWD KYB GR2 struts all around. I modified the bottoms of the shocks so that I could mount them up higher. I ran stock 1g DSM AWD springs all around, 1 coil cut in front. The car actually had enough suspension travel to do something, and the ride quality was very acceptable. Unfortunately, the ride height was ridiculous. It looked like it was ready to hit the 4x4 trail. In my quest for the car to have a meaner stance, I ruined all of its handling characteristics. It happens. :-?

A pic for reference:

A picture of how the rear shock mounting-points were modified. If you don't do this, and you install DSM AWD struts, the car will look SLAMMED to the ground in the rear:

anything new about a set of coilovers? Tein would be willing to fab a set for 1700 GBP. Quite a price and since I often heard bad exp about KSport I'd like to know if there maybe are alternatives now.

Thanks

I never reseached it further. Bought a Mk2 Golf instead to play with, the 1.3 Colt of mine is puffing along at stock height and 13" balloons. Someday it'll be dope..

£1700 is crazy expensive though. I've heard good ane bad about K-Sports, it depends on what your benchmark and previous experience is I guess. GAZ Suspension in the UK also build custom sets. Maybe they could do a better price, especially if we are get together a group buy :) You being German, maybe you could scout H&Rs pages - in the VW world H&R makes the coilover, anything else doesn't come close.

hey guys would the 15x6.5 w/ options of either 35 or 42 offset w/c will be the best for our CSM. I dont want wheel sticking outside the chassis.

are there any disadvantage on running a different set of wheels like maybe half an inch wider but w/ the same wheel diameter. 15x6.5 (front) x 15.7 (rear)

I would put the wider wheels up front if I was doing something like that

not if you're around +38/+42 offset also depends greatly on your tire size and brand.

AWD cars are generally not going to run different tire sizes, all 4 must be the same.

IMO a 15x7 +40 with a 205/50 tire will fit perfectly fine and look great. Others may give you different opinions.

ok but it seems 7" wide wheels on our cars has limited tires options to use to avoid rubber sticking out or fender rubbing issues and hitting other suspenion parts. Thays why im weighing my option on a 6.5" wide or go for 7" or maybe 7" wide is a bit overkill

7" wide is not overkill at all, it's the perfect width for these cars. Look at my posts in this thread, I posted pics of my old Mirage, which had 7" wide wheels all around. I had 225/50's and 205/50's. The 205/50's fit much better. The 225's rubbed in the rear.

I run 225/50 on a 15x7 +34, no rubbing but I'm not lowered much either so +40 is in the safe zone for a 15x7, not sure how many times that needs to be said..
