You can buy headliner material for about $8 a yard at most fabric stores and attach it with 3M adhesive spray. I've done this on several Mitsu's. Just use a metal wire brush to remove the old dryrotted foam and glue. You will be left with the original backing to glue the new material to.

If you don't want to bother with it most upholstery shops will recover them.

Hmm, I guess you could use vinyl. I don't really see how a headliner could get dirty though unless you smoke a lot in your car.

The original "backer" is just a piece of cardboard. Be careful with it, very easy to damage it when removing or working with.

Do a google search for installers in your area, or go buy the material and a can of 3M spray adhesive and do it yourself. That is exactly what the installer will do anyway.

Could always use a cleaner to remove the stains? Find a dealer sold stain remover, re-dye the headliner darker, or get it flock lined like dash pad covers I've been seeing lately.

When I redid my headliner I paid more for the 3M headliner spray adhesive than I did for the headliner material from a fabric store. And my cardboard structure was broke/cracked in multiple places. I used fiberglass for an easy fix.
