The AWD DSM struts should be the same as the GVR4 ones. I will look to see if I have any pictures of mine off the car. I'm out sit town for work travel right now so I can't take any!

What spring rates are you guys running on your Ksport setup? What I found shows the Kontrol Pro has two different rates for a CSM as 420lbs ft, 297lbs rr and 549lb ft, 353lb rr. That sounds stiff. The Road Race version shows as 784lb springs front and rear.

I'm running the standard rates that come on them. It's really not bad, a friend of mine kept trying to get me to change the rates to something similar on his Honda, but I didn't listen to him...

Thanks for the writeup Nate!

I thought I'd never find an easy solution for these things.

Horsepower Freaks has them for $900ish and $1100ish for the two different street setups.

I bought my for dealer cost, but I look at it this way, you get what you pay for. I tried dsm struts upfront with cut springs, my car was unsafe like that. Any little bump and it unloaded the front end! I tried DSM AWD struts and springs out back, it was too stiff for me. I had the Koni Yellows on all 4 corners, it was ok, but I wanted to lower it, I also didn't like the fact you had to remove them to change the stiffness on the rear.

You get what you pay for, I think it was well worth it, gave me exactly what I wanted. It's made for the car, no cutting rigging, or swapping needed. Bolt on and go...

Oh I'm not questioning the quality at all. I'm sure they're worth every penny. But at the rate I sell cars...probably not a wise investment

I understand, sorry if it seemed like a rant. Just seems everyone wants to build an Enzo at the cost of a Pinto! :)

I couldn't agree more. I have no problem spending big money. :D (big money for me anyway) Before I do though, I want to make sure its what I want/need. I don't want to experiment with Enzo prices.

I'm going to get the K Sport setup too. I just have to decide between the two street spring rates. It concerned me that the consensus here seemed to be 250# front, 200# rear and the K Sports are much stiffer. However, judging from my setup I'd day 250/200 is way too soft for any real racing use. My Koni Yellow/Eibach Sportlines up front are way too soft and the Konis are set on full stiff. I have 300# springs in the rear and actually could use more spring, along with a shock to control it.

I went with the softer non Road Race springs. I drove the car over 1400 miles on the road rally and had no complaints. I drive my car a lot, usually at few hundred miles a week, when I'm not driving the Evo.

The main reason I went with the softer set up was the member who bought BowDowns old car, (cant remember his name at the moment). He said that the RR version was great in the corners, but the ride was a little harsh.

Sorry I don't have pictures of the install, I was rushed on getting her ready for the rally. It was a very simple bolt in though.

For what it's worth, in my drift car (which I daily at the moment) I run 16kg front 12kg rear springs (896/672lb I believe) and it drives beautifully, it's a bit rough over bad surfaces but I have the damper setting almost maxed out. Maybe the weight of the car plays a factor in how it drives with a particular spring rate? In my Cyborg I have 7kg (392lb) front and rear, but I've only driven it up and down my driveway so I can't really comment on ride quality but they do appear to be quite stiff.

I thought I should point this out. Looking on the K Sport website and Horsepower Freaks website, they both list the K Sport setup for Dodge Colts and Mitsu Mirages but the Mirage is a few hundred $ cheaper! So if anyone is interested they should buy for a Mirage not a Colt. They show different part numbers but the spring rates are the same and I'm sure the valving would be the same also since they are the same car.

Ok, I see some confusing info on the HP Freaks website on these. For the Kontrol Pro street setup with 420/297 springs it shows different upper mounts for the rear depending on what car you select, Colt or Mirage.

89 Mirage costs $909 and you have to reuse your OEM rear upper spring mounts
89 Colt costs $1169 with 420/297 springs and you get Pillowball Upper mounts
89 Colt costs $922 with 549/353 springs and you get Aluminum Top mounts

I wonder if their website is just bad info. (not surprising for an old 89 car) Or if indeed you get different parts. I'll call them Monday and ask. If so, I'm tempted to get the Colt 549/353 combo for the AL upper mounts and then get softer springs later if it's too rough. I may get different springs for the track and street anyway, that would be the best setup.
