hell yeah you can...thats a great upgrade from the 7.8:1 compression ratio to 8.5:1 it's a cheap but effective and proven upgrade. but actually i almost forgot to mention that it's bets to use your 1g "bigger" rods but you'll have to have the pin hole in the rods machined to accept the piston pins. i'll try to find the blueprint that you would have to take to a machine shop for you. it's online somewhere, i'll have to look..or someone may know where it is?

wrist pin bore must be opened up from 21mm to 22mm
pin end of rod must be narrowed .100" to 1.040"

well you probably could but if you were going for a rebuild you would definately want to use the 1g rods. they are a lot stronger than the 2g rods, thats why 1g guys use only the pistons. i would highly reccomend that you dont use the 2g rods and stick with the bigger 1g rods. i dont know where you are located and the availability of a machine shop so if you have to send them off to get bored go with http://www.bjscylinderhead.com/mitsupricing.htm
