My balance shaft seal started leaking this past fall,so it's been parked ever since. I decided to do it right and buy everything needed to eliminate the balance shaft, and replace the front main seal while I'm in there this spring. My question is,how hard is it to do the bse with the motor in the car? My plan is to use the Vfaq, drop the cross member as it shows with jacks supporting it to lower it enough to get the front case off. I know there isn't much room on that side,I changed the timing belt/pulleys/water pump and had a hell of a time just getting off the harmonic balancer lol. I had a helper that had experience with DSM timing belt jobs. This I plan to tackle myself.

I know the VFAQ says its possible but I would not attempt it personally. IMO its a pain to do with the engine out of the car, no way I'd even try with the engine still in. Again, this is just my opinion. I'm sure many have done it with success.

Ditto on what mirageman said, huge pita to do it while the motor is in the car. If you absolutely have to do it in the car, it can be done, just be aware that it's going to test your patience and take 2-3x longer.

I watched that video not too long ago lol! I'm going to attempt to do it in the car,and document it along the way. Maybe others can use the info, successful or not.

I have done the elimination and I have kept them. Pretty simple to do, just make sure you get the kit from ExtremePSI or JNZ. The Ebay kits will wreck your motor

If you don't want to have hard time removing them with the engine in car, I think replacing just the seals would be easier...

Engine is out of the car. I will most likely be doing the kit.

I am currently getting machine shop prices, looking for availability on parts.
Gotta decide wheter to rebuild or buy a used motor or used car for the motor.
