have been seriously thinking about going this route with my car, I have thought about awd swap but I dont have the place to do it and dont want to clutter a garage for weeks doing this plus I have no way of getting/towing a 1g awd dsm to use as a donor, I was going to buy a built fwd tranny but it was gonna be 1200 for it, so here Im looking at a auto swap, I know I will need to find a donor car so I can rape it for the parts.

Heres a list of donor cars:

Here is a small transmission list of cars that have the F4A33-1, the F4A22-1 found on 1g non turbos is valved diffrent:
3000 GT 91-99 4 SPEED FWD V6 3.0L F4A33-1
DIAMANTE 92-96 4 SPEED FWD V6 3.0L F4A33-1
ECLIPSE 91-98 4 SPEED FWD Turbo L4 2.0L F4A33-1
GALANT 94 4 SPEED FWD L4 2.4L F4A33-1
LASER/TALON 91-98 4 SPEED FWD Turbo L4 2.0L F4A33-1
STEALTH 91-96 4 SPEED FWD V6 3.0L F4A33-1

Has anyone here had any sucess with other trannys? And what did you use to control it? How straight foward was the swap/wiring? And pics of your setup, thanks

The Stealths, 3KGTs and Diamantes did not come with any 46XX engines so I am almost positive you cannot use any of those transmissions. The 6GXX engines do not have the same bell-housing pattern.

The bell housing pattern is the same but the internals probably aren't as strong as FWD DSM stuff. biglady is rocking a 1.6l NA automatic FWD trans successfully. The 2.4l Galant/Expo trans should be pretty beefy, but I have no experience with it.

I thought hard about keeping my summit auto but just don't have enough experience with it to make it justifiable. You can get all the auto stuff out of it if you want, I'd be willing to let the stuff go real cheap.

Even at that power level there isn't a wholoe lot that would have to be done to an auto. Restalled converter, end clutch kit, upgraded 1st gear clutch kit, line pressure mod yada yada yada... Still cheaper and more reliable than building a manual trans and buying a clutch that can handle over 400lb/ft of torque.

Thanks for the good info, I guess its off to the junkers to see what I can find in there, I read on tuners that a 2.0 NT tranny will keep down shifting everytime you go into boost as its valved diffrent, I wonder how the hyndai trans work, and also those that run autos, what type of control do you run with, ie: stock tcu, chiped tcu or just a shift box

I don't see why the trans would downshift because of boost unless Load Factor plays a role in gear selection.

You can hunt down an EPROM TCU and flash the chip, but I think it is easier and cheaper to do the blue-wire mod to increase the line pressure and buy a Road Surge shift box for $150.

so he has listed a FWD trans for a 3000 gt/stealth with a v6.. will this bolt up to the 4g63? cause I found a awd auto for a 3000gt v6..but wasnt sure if it would bolt up or not..and I would think a v6 TT trans would be stronger than a 4 cyl T trans.. the numbers are the same except the last 3..which I keep finding diff version of the last 3 digits.

this is the one i found. w4a331unq.

The 4gXX and 6gXX engines have different bell housing patterns.
