Post subject:  Adjusting mixture + what's this??

I need to adjust the fuel/air mixture as my car is running a bit leane, it's got a 4g67 fitted.

There seems to be something on the bulk head with arrows on and a R and a L, I presume that's it but there's nothing to turn in the middle just a round lump.

Can somebody please help??

To do it properly, you would need some sort of piggyback fuel controller that would allow you to richen and lean the mixture, and use that in conjunction with a wideband 02 sensor do you know you're doing it right. There is an adjustment screw on the bottom of the mass-air sensor that you can play around with, but usually people do that to make their cars run even more lean, same with removing honeycombs from the MAF, that just leans you out more. There is no screw or any other device that allows you to adjust the air/fuel mixture on a fuel-injected car.

I was unsure if the colt had one as I know there is a few efi cars with a electronic remote adjustment screw.

The main reson im asking is the car had a emotions test the weekend and it's come back very low which means it's running lean, anybody got any ideals why this could be as I'm bound to be loosing power.

Also what this if not a mixture adjustment,

Whoa, that's crazy! Never seen anything like that on a US car.

I'm wondering if some how it's some sort of adjustment as uk emmition laws are probably stricter that those in the US?

It also has a half moon shape arrow on it and a "R" one end and a "L" the other end, it can't be left and right as there back to front, my guess was "rich" and "lean"?

Yes, R would mean rich and L would mean lean.

It would be nice to know which pins those go to on the board.

Well, that is one cool looking switch/pot/resistor type thing. Almost looks like the color of the wires for the thermostat, but there are so many similar wires on top of the motor.

The EUDM C53A 4G61 N/A Colt come without O2 sensor, YES no lambda...
Have you swapped the engine harness from a C58 ? ECU ?

This part is idle fuel control variable resistor.
Im curious also for the tool needed and i have only the USDM workshop manual :(
Maybe VR4AWD on ColtUK has this EUDM manual, let me know thanks.

Sometimes this same car come with the 7 wire "idle reset" on the MAF like the turbo motor.
Also, no canister but a 2 way vapor valve and a breather tank. Perfect parts for delete the hard vapor line below the car 8)
I have this mod on my Dodge Colt !

Really strange one, think I might have to talk to my mate at mitsi about it.

I have found this workshop manual on Ebay recently :

All three confirm this thing :
Colt and Lancer pre-facelist come in Europe without narrow band sensor or catalyst.

My Colt 4g61 n/a has this fuel control variable resistor.
After a k&n install my motor run lean, i have adjusted my AFR with this variable resistor and my UEGO

This is a electric diagram picture :

This resistor is pluged on the baro sensor

No more information about that thing on internet, sorry ...
