After reading over the threads that Berserko posted with regard to control arms and bushings, it would seem right that you can use the NA urethane rear bushing, with an NA bracket on the end of the turbo control arm. Now, I have not done this, but if the Elantra and Turbo control arm rear mount points are the same, and the NA CSM rear mount point is different, then it could be a problem. Someone must know if the turbo control arm is 100% capable of using the NA or Elantra bushing. Same part #'s. GSR for CSM's would mean turbo models in the catalogues.

I moved all the topics listed above, over to the Suspension Archives, so they will be very easy to find now. Only problem was the panhard post link was identical to another link. Panhard rod, only has one option for solid torsion bar axle, not 4WD model.

I am running the n/a bushings and mounts on my Colt GT without any issue. These are just the mitsu oem bushings but I would think the superpro part would be the same.

So it appears that the increased caster bushings from SPF are drastically cheaper for the N/A CSM vs the turbo CSM. So if I understand right it looks like I can use the N/A increased caster bushings SPF-1142AK on my 89 Colt GT as long as I use the N/A bracket MB-518748 on my factory turbo CSM control arms. I don't know what a set of those brackets will cost but if the poly turbo caster bushings were $150/set vs $65/set for the N/A caster bushings, sounds like the way to go.

Edit: and it appears the n/a brackets are roughly $5ea.

Also, with all the archived info, I could only find Super Pro part numbers. There has been a few mention calling Whiteline direct with good results albeit wasn't recently. (2008ish) But I didn't see any part numbers for Whiteline bushings. Anyone have that info?

What I got off the Whiteline website as of Sep 2011:
Mitsu Lancer CA, CB, EXCL GSR, ('89-8/'92)
Swaybar links listed are for n/a models
Front Lower Control Arm -front bushing W51988 (it gives dimensions if someone happens to know the C53 dimensions)
Rear Panhard Rod W81583
Rear Axlebeam front W61588

Sorry but not !
That bushing has 22mm inner diameter and the Turbo lower arm has 20mm outer diameter...

I post pictures this week end for the SPF1140K bushing kit install on the stock 89GT Turbo control arm.

That bushing has 22mm inner diameter and the Turbo lower arm has 20mm outer diameter...

I post pictures this week end for the SPF1140K bushing kit install on the stock 89GT Turbo control arm.
Yep. I got the non-turbo caster bushings from Super Pro and indeed the hole was bigger than the rod on the control arm. I got some real thin walled SS tube and cut it into 1" long sleeves to press into the bushings. That took up the slop and the install works great. Definitely not a "bolt on" bushing though without something to shim up the difference. I'm pretty sure I documented the exact specs of the ID vs OD and the wall thickness of the SS tube I had to use in another thread here somewhere.

I confirm the inner diameter of the SPF1140K bushing has 22mm and the lower arm has 20mm outer diameter.
We have turned a steel bar inner and outer to fix this problem like you Shawn.

Why not just use teflon tape to take up the slack? Will help with the squeaking down the road when the grease comes off too. I also noticed the bushing is a few millimeters shorter than the old bushing and will need to be shimmed with a washer or two. Nonetheless, yours is a real clean install.

Teflon tape won't last past 5 miles. I came across this problem with the GF's car, rear sway bar bushings were loose as hell. I used electrical tape (self vulcanizing rubber) and wrapped it a half dozen times, then put the bushing back over it. It has raised portions on either side of the bushing so it can't go anywhere/squeeze out. It's worked for a few weeks now. I'd never do that with a critical bushing like a control arm, far too much stress, definitely need to put a spacer in as ColtiXim did.

I've used teflon with great success on sway bar bushngs and control arm bushings on cars i've put 30 to 50 thousand miles on. This is a common practice when swapping out to polyurethane. Granted, I didn't need to take up a 1mm gap, but, i'm gonna give it a shot. I've got a couple steel bushing inserts I can have machined if the teflon fails. Sway bar bushings have much more stress than control arms anyway, think about the stress on a sway bar bush when turning a corner. The rear control arm bush has a much smaller range of movement, its basically a lever.
