So long story short.. after many many 1/4 mile passes my slave cylinder worked itself loose and fell off at the track.

I get the car home, found a couple bolts and put the slave back on.

Now my clutch pedal feel is very different, used to engage near the floor and now its engaging near the top of pedal travel. There is no issues with shifting or anything like that. Car goes in and out of gear fine.

However, I cannot push the slave rod back in to the slave cylinder by hand. So I try to adjust the rod on the master under the dash. I can't break the 12mm locknut free from the rod. Had a big pair of vicegrips on the rod and still no dice. However when I spin that 12mm nut with a wrench, the whole rod turns. I've spun the nut (which also spins the rod) both ways 10+ rotations, does not change a thing.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I can't see anything else up there to put a wrench on.

Clamp the rod near the threads with needle noce vicegrips and then break the nut loose. Pretty sure the threads are backwards.

I'll try going at it again with vice grips.

Got in there with a much bigger pair of vice grips and got the nut spinning freely. Then I backed the rod all the way out.. it fell out of the pedal. Woops! Then I cracked open the bleeder screw so I could push the rod into the master easier. Then I got it threaded back into the pedal assembly. Kept adjusting in until I could push the slave back in by hand. Got it adjusted good and locked everything down! Works 100% better!
