Just wondering if anyone's has had experience with using a GPS controlled speedometer. I'm looking into an alternate route around using my stock cluster, I think this along with some gauges would perform and look awesome in place of the bland factory cluster? I was thinking of something like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Speedhut ... ccessories it's a bit pricey though. Anybody know of some cheaper alternatives?

go...

You could make a custom LCD cluster out of two 7" vga monitors running on a trunk mounted industrial PC. Then get a Garmin GPS18 USB to show speed, and your location on the map, and run DSMlink on the other screen to monitor vital engine data.

I saw a bicycle speed and trip computer used on a kit car. Super cheap, programable and accurate. They do have limitations as far as top speed runs though. I am sure they do not read accurately above 80 mph or so....

The ecu gives out a digital signal to the diag port with speed info. It actually is extremely accurate when compared to cluster data, contrary to internet belief. Although you will have to hack your old cluster, I believe the VSS is in the actual cluster.

Or you can do the gps route with a carputer. Although it gets really expensive/complicated with our cars as compared to the OBD2/Canbus.
