Ok, so ive been scouting around lately for a good CSM, Starion, Mighty max to do either a 6G72 DOHC Motor swap or A 4g63T swap into and i stumbled across a real gem. I happened to find a 93 dodge colt base model that had been bought BRAND NEW from the dealership in 93 by a company that converts cars to electric. The car was converted to electric brand new with literally ZERO miles on it. Fast forward to today, i called a friend and he happened to be getting rid of a few cars and mentioned a dodge colt. My ears perked up and went down to check it out..

Come to find out.... the car has 1200 miles on it.... yes you read that right, 1200 miles on it. The electric conversion since has failed and all the stuff was yankd out of it and it was a rolling chassis with pretty GREAT paint, but the door panel tops are faded and crusting and the rear seats are totally shot and split open as is the drivers seat. the dash and shifter boot and radio and all plastics are in PERFECT shape (look brand new). The spare trunk well was cut out and had an aluminum pan fabbed up and installed in place to hold batteries. The gas tank, exhaust and ac lines and heat and engine harness are all gone as is the clutch pedal it looks like (car is 5spd cable clutch). i havn't had a chance to look under the dash to really see what the deal is. The rear springs have "helper springs" installed inside to deal with the added load of the batteries tha were in the trunk (awesome for drag racing to keep the rear end from sagging under launches). Anyway its an awesome setup and its perfect for a 4g63 race car once i use a hair dryer to remove all the gay "electric powered" vinyl stickers off of the body. Best part..... i got it for trade for an aem FIC unit (worth about 300 bucks). title is clean and legit :) hopefully ill get pics up soon.

Anyway, to the Questions.... The car is a 5 spd cable clutch.... im wanting to convert to a hydaulic setup from a dsm probably... are there indentations on the firewall for the clutch master cylinder?? if so do i just have to drill the holes and use a holesaw to cut the middle hole so i can bolt on the clutch master cyl?

Also whats the weight of this car??? this seems to be the base model (crank windows, single side mirror, basic radio)

Also since there is no front sway bar can i just get the control arms and swaybar setup from an automatic 93-96 csm and bolt it on??

Last an final question, what do you guys think of a single turbo 6G72 DOHC setup??? i did some measurments on an N/A dohc 6g72 and the 93 colt chassis, and it should BARELY fit, but im not sure about the weight of the 6g72 dohc longblock vs a 4g63 longblock. ive heard they are very close in weight oddly enough from alot of people.... obvioulsy if the motor weighs more it will help as its over the front wheels, but what are your thoughts??? The car will probably only be used for drag racing as most of the factory wiring has already been removed (engine harness, body harness in engine bay) by previous owners.

Congrats on finding such a good deal! Actually there are 4g csm's that come from the factory with a hydro setup, as a matter of fact I grabbed the tach cluster from a 4g a few weeks ago and tossed it on ebay. Ends tonight LOL.

I was planning to go back and grab the clutch/brake pedal assembly here shortly because they are kinda hard to find. Only the 1.8 manual cars came with the hydro clutch.

The dsm setup will work, I know this because I used one on my old 4g sedan. Took me about 2 hours to get it mounted and braced up nicely and this was with the dash out of the car. I couldn't find the factory one at the time but it would have been 10X easier for sure. You basically sit it up against the firewall and mark/drill your holes and bolt it in. The dsm assembly has to be trimmed to fit and then braced with brackets and such to hold it firmly.

I believe the base, base models weigh about 2100 lbs from what I've read. I'm sure there is still quite a bit more weight that you could drop if you were really serious.

I know the V6 looks cool but I would stay with the tried and true 4G63T if it were me. All of the mounts have been documented over on mirage forums so its a bolt in deal. I make adapter harnesses for the 4g's as well if you didn't want to bother hardwiring it. Plus you hear about the V6's spinning bearings in stock form.

Hope this helps! PM me if you need a hydro pedal setup.

Thanks for the fast reply.

Well if you have a 1.8 hydro setup you can snag for me id be willing to pay you for it :) id like direct fit stuff if possible and i do plan on removing the dash here very soon. this project is going to take a while as i plan to clean and detail EVERYTHING extensively. Sadly, most of the body wiring has been hacked and cut when the electric motor and controllers were removed. all of the wiring under the hood up to the firewall is cut and the body harness is cut from the drivers fender area into the cabin. My plan is to custom re-wire the entire car to have turn signals and brake lights and head lights and rewire everything i need. SOOO...... custom wire job with painless wiring fuse boxes and such from summit is the route ill probably go. The car probably cant be anything more than a drag car but it should be very clean and done right.
