currently the rear axle on my colt is bent.
i picked up another one but one of the bushings was torn out.
so after a few weeks of searching for bushings i could not find anything.
what i did was i ordered 1g dsm FWD rear axle bushings from energy suspension

stock axle bushings.

energy suspension bushings

the first step is to get the old bushing out with as much of the rubber as possible.
then scrap all the rubber out. there is a metal sleeve under all the rubber. it is okay to scrape hard since the sleeve will also have to come out.

next you have to get the metal outer sleeve out.
i used a dremel with a cutting wheel to cut across the sleeve.
then pry it out.

the axle will probably not look the best after getting the sleeve out so clean it up

next you will need to grind down the new bushings some so they can fit into the csm axle.
i used a bench grinder.
the modified bushing is on the right in both pictures.

note* you dont want to make them too small. you want them still to have to be pressed in.

the final step is to lube them up and press them in.
i used a large c clamp and two pieces of wood.

one side of the bushing will hang out some.
that is fine because it will still fit perfect where it gets mounted.

i hope this helps some people out.

i will add more pics when installed.
i am also installing the energy suspension track bar bushings.

That's pretty cool. I'd be interested to see if it makes a difference or not. All of our bushings probably look like yours or worse so it should be a huge improvement.

Did you ever find some new bolts? I'll probably hit the yard early next week if you still need them, PM me.

The picture of the stock bushing was the good side. The other side the sleeve and most of the rubber was missing.

I found out that 1g fwd rear axles use the same bolts for the axle :)
I think I might have a pair.
