Hi Guys,
If anyone has a spare moment, would you be able to measure the height from the bottom of the rear shocker to the spring perch (for stock struts and koni's)?

I would like to know if there is any difference between the stock/factory perch height and the koni yellow perch height... unfortunately I threw out my stock struts... and i think i have the wrong konis...

Thanks in advance guys,
Michael

Switch: I had a strut on the balcony so your in luck :) I rammed the measuring tape up under the perch and measured down to the end of the strut counting the mounting point and one not couting that 14" from perch to very end. and 12" just the actual strut body... Hope this helps

Thats stock... I have a koni on the car and its perches i would say are within 1/4" of stock (might be the same but is no more than 1/4" higher or lower) . If yours is any different than that you have the wrong ones I believe they have a p/n # engraved on the strut body get the P/n and verify it on konis website...

Thanks Beserko - I checked mine out today and i have put down my poor ride to springs that are too low. Mine are 300mm unsprung - im going to put in my stock springs and see how they go.

I think the part number is right 8040 1080 Sport.

MIchael

8040 1080 is the right strut now if you have lowering springs it might be that you have not cut your bump stops most manufacturers recommend you cut your bump stops in half when you lower the car. You might be just boucing around on bump stops...

I have cut the damn bumpstops - more then half actually! but it made no difference...

The springs I have are 300mm unsprung height (145lb springs) and when installed they sit 310mm (measured from the tyre arch to the centre of the wheel wentrecap)

The old shocks and spring setup made the ride height 353mm. The unsprung height is 350mm and they are 110lb springs?

I also put another set in (whitelines - 325mm unsprung and 110lb) and they made the ride height 292mm!

So tonight Im going to put the stockers back in see how high it raises the car... from my calculations the ride height should be 315mm? Calculated by the ration of compression that the whiteline springs made... (ie 292mm/323mm = .9 and .9*350 = 315? does this make sense or am i totally of track here?)

I finally fixed my problem!!!

I took the suspension out last week and i was reassembling it - but it didnt look right - so i got out CAPS and printed out the diagram... ive had it installed incorrectly for 2 years! i put a rubber boot and the steel sleeve in the wrong position!

now the ride height is fine but my shocks are stuffed from 2 years of abuse (well incorrect installation anyway)! they are koni yellows.

My question now is do you guys think they are worth rebuilding? or should I just buy new ones - they are 450aud a pair here... I dunno how much a rebuild is worth?

I think a rebuuild is about $100 US but during a rebuild they can convert your internally adjustable rears to externally adjustable use the white cap to set stiffness....

I just asked the koni distributor here in OZ. Its 80 bucks per strut to rebuild - he said changing it to externally adjustable costs alot more! he couldnt give me a price though.
