I need help before i set my colt on fire, lol. I had a set of B&G lowering springs on my car with gr2 kyb on the front and AGX in the back. The car was to low in the back so my friends told me to just get a set of coilovers. So i when and get Ground control and the car still seats to low in the back, and thats not good for drag racing. Can anybody tell me what could i do to fix this problem, im going crazy..... You could check my car out on youtube (mirage 4g63 swap fwd)... I need help..... |

I too have the same GC coilover and KYB AGX set-up in the rear. I had to weld 4" of extra pipe to the bottom of AGX's BUT I am AWD swapped. Even with the 4" of extension the coilovers had to be almost to the top to keep tires from tucking and consequently rubbing. Longer springs did not help my situation since the struts were physically too short. |

You need to get taller springs for the rear. You have a 1g DSM shock in the back, and the spring perch is about 2" lower on the shock than it is on a CSM, which is why the car gets slammed in the rear. Order yourself a pair 10" tall 2.5" diameter coilover springs for the rear and you should be sitting pretty. Get a stiffer spring rate if all you care about is drag racing.

Will the longer spring max out the stroke on the strut or do the struts he has have enough travel to utilize longer springs? The AGX's I had did not have enouhg travel to utilize longer springs and therefore had to be lengthened. |

I use 1g AWD DSM shocks on my Mirage with 10" springs in the rear and it's fine. It's the perfect length to get the ride height where it needs to be, and my coilover sleeve hardly has any adjustment on it at all, so I'd say the shock has plenty of travel.

I was thinking of trying the B&G on the coil and see if it work, but i dont know if is 10" spring... Where could i find a 10" spring, I dont really wanna spend money on suspension again but i guess i have no other choice Quote: Quote: I have my coilovers all the way up too..... Tonus said in this post: http://www.4g61t.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=28497 that he felt the rates he picked were still a little rough. You can base your decision on what he found. Yes the higher the number the stiffer the spring. |

The higher the lb rating, the stiffer the spring is. Something in the 1,000lb range would be VERY stiff, something in the 200lb range is not as stiff. The brand doesn't really matter, it's the dimensions that are important. You need a spring that is 2.5" in diameter and 10" tall. |
