Where could I get some SS brake and clutch lines for my 89 mirage turbo? Do I need them from a 1g?

thanks

I bought mine years ago fro Tirerack at a really good price. Too bad they don't list them anymore, but I found you this

FWIW-My brakes felt awesome after this upgrade.

Try the summit AWD? Check me on this here guys... I believe the previous owner of my colt switched to an 80's something summit Rotors and pads. Much bigger and vented. Not drilled and slotted, but Bigger is cool.

The turbo model mirage comes with vented rotors in the front and solid rear. I dont want to do the eclipse swap because its too much work and I dont want 5 lug. But braking from 160mph on the highway gets scary when the whole car starts shaking!!

If you can get over the +3* positive camber (or want to slot your struts), the galant vr4 front knuckle will give you some nice big dual piston caliper brakes.

If not switching to the Galant knuckles than you can find some single piston front calipers from a 1G DSM (90-92 AWD or 90-94 FWD Turbo and Non Turbo). Match those up with some Hyundai Elantra (92-96 I believe) front rotors. Im not sure if your car is a Factory Turbo car or not but if it isnt than id also suggest upgrading to the Elantra Master Cylinder and brake booster. Its really not that hard and is a bolt on upgrade.

It is a turbo model. I have already slotted the struts, but 3 degrees is alot to try and get out of the car.

Are the 1g Calipers a bolt on too? Are they a little bigger, like spaced out to fit a larger rotor? And i assume that the elantra front rotors are a little larger than the stock turbo rotors?

thanks

Actually the stock Turbo CSM brakes are larger than the Elantra rotor/1G Single piston setup. The only real upgrade, besides going aftermarket, would be to use the GVR4 knuckle and dual piston calipers and rotors.

Hey-

I just found an ad in the back of the August Motor Trend. Brakeworld.com They seem to be a little cheaper.

For the record,

The late 92 thru 94 1G calipers are the SAME as the Galant VR4, the early model Diamante and the 3000GT SL.

actually, there is another route, one with no camber changes.

install a set of 4G CSM front spindles :)

don't want 4x100? press the stock hubs out and have a set of Expo/Summit wagon front hubs pressed in.
the dual-piston calipers are then a direct bolt on, and with the hubs swapped, you won't have to redrill the GVR4 rotors to fit on either.

just a heads up though, installing the 4G spindles will give you 2deg of positive toe on each side of the car. but no camber changes from what the alignment check showed me.

There should be enough adjustment in the stock steering rack to take that 2 degrees out. Am I right? It seems like a lot of work to press out the hubs on any of these. I know I need new rotors on my car and I don't like these captured rotors at all. If I'm going to do the whole thing, I'd love to be able to use 2 piston calipers.

I've posted on here asking if the regular 4 lug Galant hubs will accept 2 piston calipers and if they are compatible with the CSM suspension. I've also noticed that the Expo has non-captured rotors and may also work. We really need to get together as a group and find out what will work for sure with the least amount of work and money for the largest return in braking performance.

Sorry if this subject is getting off topic.

yup, more than enough adjustment to eliminate the toe out.
i also forgot that you have to flip the tie-rod ends over to put the 4G spindles on too.
