Today we finished all the interior wiring and I wanted to see the engine in the car. We took it off the engine stand and put an empty bellhousing on it to get it into the car. The Elantra mount I got from 89mirageman worked like a charm. The tranny mount fit also. The front mount from the colt seems to fit pretty well. Then it came to the back mount and I knew it would be a hassle. My dad came up with a cool idea to just modify the stock eclipse mount. So here is the semi finished product. (sorry for being kinda dark my phone sucks).
We cut the welds for the mount bolt holes. turned them about 90* so they would match up with the stock colt mount. As you can see the difference between the stock holes and where they are now. Its welded up and mounted into the car right now. Fits like it was stock. We are going to go back and cut the ears off the end to clear some space.
Here is a picture of the engine in the car for its first test fit. Ended up fabing up all the mounts. The head on it is just to mock things up. Its coming back out tomorrow for a complete engine rebuild
I would say the car is probably 50-60% completed right now. More news to come.
