Post subject:  Thrust bearing

Im rebuilding my 88 g32b block and am having problems with the thrust bearing. It fits onto the block but its too wide to go onto the crank.

Is it not unheard of? My machine shop asked their supplier to measure up other sets they had and they all measured the same width.

The machine shop was able to machine the thrust bearings down enough to now fit. Should I have anyother concerns?

Are there any options for diffferent crank castings that made provisions for different thrust bearings or different sets rather to accomodate these changes?

Personally, I'd want a thrust bearing oversize so I could get it a perfect fit. There shouldnt be any problems as long as it fits now.

I assemble the bottom end and the crank fits almost perfectly with every little end play. Thanks for the comments.
