Does this really work? I am building a race car with a low budget and I realise that u have Phantom Grip LSD for the FWD Eclipse Gearbox which I have in my car...and I need to make the car limited and all the other LSD are US$1000 upwards.... What in the consensus...it works just as well or not?
Thanks in advance :D

A Phantom Grip doesn't work just as well as a $1,000 LSD, but it will work fine for what you want to do with it. I've heard the LSD inserts can damage the diff if you get wheel hop, but I don't know if that's true. There have been a few guys on this board who've used Phantom Grips with a lot of success and who swear by them, and others who don't like them.

I have one in my Mirage tranny and I get zero wheel hop, but I also have poly mounts and full suspension. I can say it def spins both tires and i think with out it I would have a really hard time keeping it straight.

All in all, it's good if you are on a budget, but if you can afford it, buy a real diff.

It helps on launch but how is it when turning? I was told it makes the tires squeek and that they make the steering shit in the rain/snow.

I have poly mounts too...but I dont buy the suspension yet... I was thinking of GCC coilovers with Konis...Is there any better suspension that can work? Like Tein, HKS etc...built for the car...or could I modify like an Eclipse or 4th Gen Mirage Suspension and make it work?

Thats my question too...I dont care that much about straight lines... I need a car that can turn well, so if the Phantom is not going to turn it doesnt make sense i buy it...so can it turn well?

If you're into handling AT ALL, do not get a Phantom Grip.

I have the Groundcontrol coilovers on my car, but with KYB AGX's. I love the set up and I think it feel great. As for the struts, everyone is going to say something diffrent so it is really up to personal choice.

I would'nt know about in the snow seeing as my car will never see it. The corners are a little better, but i still get massive wheel spin and understeer. Even with a decent amount of camber on the front end. But then again, my car is not set up for corners, just street/highway pulls.

Um, why to you say that? I've had mine for a full season, and driving normal one would not notice it. It is only driving under boost exiting a corner that the car wants to go wide. But this is while leaving black stripes! What is the term for this, fwd drifting? Anyway, I don't regret installing it, and with regular driving the car is benign.

I'm just going off what I heard. I was under the impression that it was only something to be used for drag racing--going straight. If it works well for you in the turns too then more power to it.

I had a PG in my daily driver and I loved it. There wasnt a day that Mr Hyde didnt see 100 mph. Phantom Grip in the rain was great. I always had grip. PG turning was great. Even tight radius turns.

A WELDED DIFF sucks for tight radius turns...

The best thing about PG.... When you upgrade to a 2.0 and are putting down some decent power.... 3rd gear pulls on the highway wont pull across two lanes..... You'll roast tires, but in a straight line!!
