Make sure you tune your car accordingly for higher octane fuel, or else it will run worse than it does on pump gas.

Are you currently on a 2g maf and 550's/60's without any tuning? Hows that setup holding minus the obvious high intake temps your holding?

Well before I had V3 lite the tune was decent but ran rather rich due to the black ass end on my car all the time. I tuned with ECMlink my self and it runs pretty good. Any thing near 16 psi and I'm at 100-103% inj duty cycle. There's alot of room for improvement though I'm sure because I'm still learning

+1 on ditching the squirrel piss. I've been running that squirrel stuff for years and battling knock constantly. I finally put some real gas in there and knock has been the furthest thing from my mind. All I've been doing since is pulling fuel, adding boost, and adding timing.

I draw my air from under my bumper cover, and it's ambient temps whenever I'm moving. I measured intake temps in my UICP one time and was in shock. I ditched my ebay intercooler in favor of a PTE within a couple days.

Here's what I fabricated to get cool air: http://www.4g61t.org/forum/viewtopic.ph ... hilit=hole

Considered a hood vent or a turbo blanket?

I have galant VR4 vents and an EVO 3 vent on the hood and the stock heat shield over the exhaust mani. I actually just hooked the buffer and AEM WB up to my ECU and it logs on V3 spot on to my suprise and now it's really weird because the car is now sitting at 193-196 coolant temps at idle. It always ran at 206-210 before. I don't know why it's running cooler but I'm F-ing loving it. As for the idea for cold air above, that's an awesome idea but my SMIC is in the way. I may fab A shield up so that the intake pulls air from the EVO 3 vent. I think that's my only route since I'm running a 2G MAF.

Got some stuff I will post tomm that U will not believe. Best and most economical way to run it. Trust me, you will kick yourself for not running it this way. Walmart is your friend. :P

3-4 degees dropped under normal 45 mph around town, I ran an open k+n filter and seen 92 degree temps while cruising around and the outside temps were 93-94 on a sunny day with no clouds. Didnt really see the benefit if this, we modified the stock can to accept 2 3'' opening and the run the tube accordingly. Not pretty, but it works. We seen close to those temps during driving, but took several minutes to heat soak the intake agian.

What I posted about this morning was a way I had it set up on the old motor. There was carbon build up in the cylinders after 170k miles and with the cheap gas, it would rattle a decent amount even while accelerating on the interstate in warm temps. I did what ever I had to do to drop intake temps and it did pretty much that. The detonation seemed to happen more and more once everything heatsoaked and was still there until the car really got moving.

Cut your passenger side headlight in half then use 1 side to let air flow in directly.... you can also remove the left bumper signal since thats blocking air going into your smic(I still have the duct/grill that goes in place of the bumper signals if you want it.)

your headlights are JDM so if you dont want to waste it just buy a cheap used headlight and just modify it similar below

yeah ill take whatever you still have. as for the headlight thing, i may buy a spare but have to find one first, i may also remove the right amber corner light and make a "scoop" like in the link above, im in the process of fabricating a make shift heat shield right now but dont have a welder so im gonna use plexiglass for the time being and then just use that as a template for the permanent piece, im not gonna go too crazy with it because i should be converting to Speed Density soon and getting the FP 4" intake, that damn radiator fan keeps blowing all the hot air right at the intake and after a pull my intake temps jump almost 15 degrees from heat soak and i knock like crazy, like well above 10 degrees knock and it scares the hell out of me so i pull over and shut her down to lower the intake temps.

By the way anthony after changing all the belts and alternator twice (damn auto zone gave the wrong alternator the first time), ive come to the conclusion the squeaking is the power steering pump bearings, im gonna take the belt off this weekend and drive around with no PS and see if thats the cause of the squeak and then go junk yard swimming for another.

Heres my ugly attempt at cooling the intake air. It's not pretty, but it works and the last pic is my shameless attept at a plug. All thanks to my local Walmarts Rv section. Helps keep the heat soak down and it works for a 4g15. Also, check out that negative CV position angle on the pass. side.
