Just out of curiosity, does this design with the heavy duty ball joint, make the lowest point of the ball joint sit lower, or rather closer to the ground? It appears to have quite a long depth to it.

Yes Tim

The balljoint in question is adjustbale for roll center so it does movee the angle of the control arm depending on where you place the spacer on the balljoint stud. Because this car is slammed out, the control arms where way up in the air putting the roll center well into the ground. SO I invested in these adjustable balljoints to help fix that.

That is a very interesting idea you bring up with the geometry changes. Good on you for bringing this to our attention. I've always thought about axles that sit directly inline with the transmission, that once were angled, and this creating issues in certain situations but it is good to see a re-engineering of the original drivetrain geometry, in an appropriate manner to compensate for this.

How did you fix the bump steer issue with the dsm struts or is this a issue for you?

Just to quickly anwser the question about the dsm strut and bump steer, This is not a issue for me as I am using CSM struts and shocks.

I am going to update this with some better pictures of the final product soon too. . . . .

DSM struts do not cause bump steer. Using DSM/GVR4 spindles does. From the above pic you are using either Expo or GVR4 spindles.

Yup CSMshaun your correct

I was kind of wondering what whe3ls was refering to with that post, because I have used dsm struts without any issues but flipping the tie rod to use the dsm spindle was a terrible idea and did cause bump steer.

As for my spindle its a stock '89 gt spindle. which i have also drilled the tie rod out to 5/8" now using a 5/8" heim joint with a solid bolt for the outter tie rod.

Yup CSMShaun

You are correct again, The factory CSM spindles are captive rotor all I did was push the spindle apart. Set it up in the lathe and turn down to outside edge on the spindle, till it I could slide a rotor onto and remove the terrible captive rotor design.

Then switched to the VR4 11.5" rotor and dual piston calipers up front, I can post more pics of that if you would like aswell.

That is awesome. What does the final product weigh? And when will you start producing them?

Control arm looks great. Also, for the record, those purple bushings you have to use for that style of control arm in these cars, i have 2 sets from superpro here in FL if anyone wants to buy them. They are new in the packaging
