Based off of the rough measurements I have taken any of these bars could work with little to no customization.

So I will be trying out one of these harness bars in anticipation of installing some nice aftermarket seats and ridding the auto seat beats. I will provide install pictures and review when the bar comes in. I understand one could probably be made for cheaper or whatever but for some of us who don't have a lot of time fuss around with customization or don't have the funds for a cage I think this could be an excellent alternative.

Harness bar = good.

These eBay universal harness bars = not so good.

The metal on the "feet" of the bars, where the main bar would bolt to your chassis, looks really thin. The bendable joints at the "feet" that makes these "universal" are additional points of possible failure(s). I am guessing the two bars with heim joints at the ends are supposed to attach the main bar to other points of the chassis thus allowing the setup to have multiple points of contact with the chassis. Seems like a great idea but also introduces further points of possible failure.

When I am trusting my life and possibly a passenger's life with a safety device it has to convince me that it is 110% safe.

By all means give one of these a try but if it were me I would fabricate new "feet" from stronger material and weld each bendable joint solid once everything was bolted into place. Or bolt the sucker into place, strap into your 3,4,5,7 or whatever point harness then finish up by strapping your OE seat belt on.

Obviously I'm not going to install some flimsy bar, and if it needs to be welded it will be. Hence this being a helpful review thread.

Ok the bar I installed was the 49.5" bar. I feel it was a tad short but works, I think the 50.5" bar from NRG will be the best bet for our cars.

I used the factory seat belt mounting locations. For the upper portion I used the top bolt from the auto belt rail, behind that bracket is a threaded bolt hole I believe would be for the manual belt mounting location, this location would be ideal and very solid and should be used when you remove your auto belt stuff.

For the lower I used one of the bolts from the seat belt mounting plate. Here i had to put a slight bend in the bar due to the angle being slightly off, that was a simple as bolting down and giving it a slight push, I also added the provided spacer here.

As far as safely is concerned the bar is fairly solid and will have some decent preload once you torque everything down. Just take a look at your spot welds on your seat if you think this is unsafe, mine are broken just from normal use, scary. All I'm saying though is this is an alternative to ridding the manual belts and an alternative to a cage as far as belt mounting goes.

Upper mounting location, top bolt, you can see the other unused bolt location behind it.

Lower bolt location, added provided spacer and added some bend to straiten eye hole. I need to find a bolt with a smaller head here.

Nice install! I was planning on getting one made but since the universal ones fit I'll just use the NRG one. I'm planning on getting a set of Corbeau FX1 Pro seats since they are around $700 for the set. Now just to figure out a clean way to mount the bar with the interior in.

That looks like it'll do a good job of stiffening the ride up!

Yes, and even more so if you want weld the upper adjustable joints.

Or even connect it to the rear strut brace!
