I have this really weird problem in my car if I stomp on the brake at about 80-90mph the brakes don't lock up but the rear gets super squirrely and loose sometimes almost wants to spin out. I think it must be caused by too much rear brake bias caused by my frankenstien of parts I think I might want to start unfu(king up some of my setup and go back to a more tried and tested setup.

I'm going to pick up the top one once I get the swap parts from Jason. Then if I have similar problems I just turn the knob.

Another way to artificially adjust brake bias is to adjust pads. Put a really damn good pad up front and an okay pad in the back. Alot of the Production class guys in US Rally do this since they aren't allowed to change brakes (though they generally go the other way around good pad in the back, okay in the front but their problem is reverse of yours).

I saw this exact same reaction on my car before I did anything to the brakes. Stock 1.5L brakes. I was starting to think that it came from the panhard bar. It is actually a logical theory, at least in my case because the car aways tossed the a$$ of the the car to the same side. So, as the car weight shifted forward the rear suspension was extended, and thus because of the panhard, the car body is shifted. My mind was already thinking about how I could out-engineer this problem. Fortunately before I spent too much time on it, I replaced my front brakes with my new Wilwood kit. The problem completely disappeared, even though the car is nose diving much, MUCH more than it ever did before. Now, at the same time I put the brake kit on, I also installed polyurethane control arm bushings from Pedders. I have to believe that the problem was more in one control arm flexing more than the other when you stomp on it. Be careful because if this is the problem, it will ruin your rotors fast (5k miles), ask any E36 owner. I am proud to say I am an ex owner, and never to be an owner again!!!

So, take careful note if it always the same side, then it most likely isn’t brake bias.

Chris

i have a different feeling on this, my car need to turn really good in the corners, and with front wheel drive, the frontbrakes locking up means u keep going striaght. So i switched my brake lines at the master, i have 40-60 split ( or what ever the stock 1.5 split is) now the car turns like mad and i still have good braking, althought i get the little colt on 3wheels alot. :P 91 dodge colt, stock suspension....pulling 3wheel motion....hell yeah!! :P:P:P
