it looks like I'll never get my car running again this year ( a REALLY crappy year in many ways , I won't bore you with the details ! ) so I guess I'll live through my fellow NH colt owners . MKITFST aka Alan has a 1.6 Colt that just ran a 12.85 @ 108.72 mph and won his slick bracket class at Saturday's Import Wars at New England Dragway . His basic mods are as follows :

stock 1.6 with a 14B , Conquest front mount , fuel pump , 1G TB and exhaust cam .Race gas pushing 25# of boost . 177,000 miles on the engine . 15" slicks on narrow 6" rims . 1.93 60" time , It has run a best of 1.8 sec. Full interior .anyway , just thought I would pass along the info as he has limited computer access at the moment . If I could get my *#@^ together maybe I could give him some competition . Later !!!!!!!

NICE, that might be the fastest 61 currently running...at least that I know of. Give him props, those are really impressive times.

Yes , I'm pretty sure he will be at NED for the september import day (weather permitting ) . I should be there as well . I don't have slicks , but I should be solidly into the 13's by then . I work in Haverhill and live in Hampstead , NH . I used to have an '84 colt turbo that I traded in for my '89 colt GT . Alan used to have an 85-86 Colt before he got his 2 CSM's . Hope to see you there !!!

Cy i live in Dracut (next to lowell) we plan on being up there to at least watch if not race. Id definitely be up for any ideas you or he might have as far as any recommendations to do to the car. Its supposed to be my "reliable car" so i can get rid of my current daily driver (only thing in my stable im paying on still) so i dont want to go nuts with it but. 13's would be nice :) Any idea on the date of the next import wars?

just about, i think 27 is the limit. still not too smart to run 25psi on the stock block.

yes I'm sure 25# of boost is a bit much for a ported 14B , but when it's all you have to play with what the heck ! I think he paid $50 for it , who cares if he kills it ! The Import day should be on the 27th , it's the last saturday of every month they are open . Later !!

I would say 25 lbs is working for him......... I'm no expert on the subject but umm...........

who else has run that time on those mods?

I was running about the same mph (though not e.t.) with similar mods: 14b@18psi, Star/Quest IC, TRE AFC/MASC, 190lph pump, 450cc injectors, 3" turbo-back w/external dump.

Unfortunately, I never ran my best 1/8mi mph in a 1/4 mi pass. I think I ran ~105mph on an 84.x mph 1/8mi. pass, but my 87mph 1/8mi. pass was on an 1/8mi. track. Prolly would've been a 108-110mph pass... :-?

Ahh, well, the car is getting a big ball-bearing and new IC on the 1.6L in the spring. Once I get the tranny back from Ripple, of course. :)

Bill
