I was wondering if a suspension conversion form a galant or something of that sort would work? the car would handle much better. Just a thought that popped in my head...

Mixing and matching parts from rivals? What do you think this is, Ford and Chevy?

ill second that!!!

On a serious note:
i was lying in my room thinking of a way to make our cars IRS...and i thought of using the bolt holes on the body for the "trailing arms" as a starting point. and work from there.....i was thinking of just eliminating the trailing arms and designing a "frame" that will use the trailing arm holes as a mounting location.....but i neet to locate another spot on where to make the other mounting spot. input on design is very welcome

Why not just weld the 1G AWD rear suspension to the back. At that point you would be at least halfway finished with the AWD conversion.

I have a 91 Talon AWD rear setup just wating for this

the rear suspension is pretty self contained & if I remeber correctly it drops with just 4 bolts. I think if the flat areas where the AWD set up mounts to is reproduced on the rear floor of a CSM, & you'd probibly need a fuel cell in the trunk, it could work. I also have the drive shaft & X-fer case. :)

If anyone were really serious about starting this, I would be happy to work on some simple drawings to help out. It would actually be a lot easier to do as Hondahunter suggested and use the current trailing arms as starting points. Assuming it is a competition car, you would probably want a lot of suspension compresion induced negative camber (puts the tire flat after body roll) so the AWD setup is too limiting. I would probably start with GVR4 rear hubs (or DSM if you want the 5 lug thing) Additionally, with a few plate brackets, and some off the shelf parts this conversion is very feasable (NOTE: that I did not say reasonable!!!). It could easily be installed with the current fuel tank in place (well removed for installation). I dont remember if it could be bolt on, but I would assume it would be more of a weld on type of project.
