Im looking to start road racing my colt and i need a certified cage built for it.

I know there are probably NO pre-fab cages for the dodge colt/mitsubishi mirage,so im wondering if Honda civic coupe 2 door cage could be modified easily to fit into a 93 dodge colt 2 door coupe. There is also a pre-fab kit for sale for the 1G talon as well thats comes in pieces maybe i could modify one of those to fit as well. That or i have to custom fab up a whole cage for it which can get time consuming. I figured the neon and civic have the closest body style to my colt/summit/mirage... so it would be a good kit to start with. Maybe i should get out the measuring tape lol

If anyone out there has had to put a cage into there car as well please speak up and share your knowledge!

Thanks for the help.

these are the pre-fab kits im looking at getting

I have a good understanding on how i have to weld it together properly. Im thinking of putting in removable door bars and lots of padding so the car can still be streetable. I guess ill have to get some window tint lol. Its illegal to run a rollcage in a car? then why is it legal to drive around a jeep with a rollcage damnit! I dont want window tint!

Illeagal to have a roll cage on the street must be a BC law as it is legal here in Ont . Try these guys http://www.cscracing.com/

You might want to try this site for some local info http://www.sccbc.net/

The only thing that is super important is the shape of the main hoop. I have a 2G roll bar kit from www.swracecars.com and it is just a little too wide, maybe 3/4 of an inch from fitting in my 3G hatch. They can send you a spec sheet, you write down all the dimensions they ask for and they can make you one. That is how I am going to do it for my car.

and have it welded in locally. I dont know if you saw the post on mirage forums, but it is for the 2d summit someone said. 8)

It is better off to go to proper cage builder and have him built/bend/fit and weld the cage in. Have it built as close to body as possiable. There are good builders out there, and some bad ones. Some just glob crap together and use blind guys to mig cages. Make sure cage is fully welded around all the tubes. That doesn't mean that top bit near the roof can't be welded " soo we didn't".

Our latest incarnation CSM oval track car has the most exstensive cage yet since we will be running at a NASCAR sanctioned short track .A few things you might want to consider
95 wall seemless tubing from North York Iron (Toronto )
all joints come 20 ft long if you buy it from a wholesaler
1 3/4 = $ 33.50
1 1/2 = $ 31.50

I have almost used 60 ft with out biulding the front hoop .(engine bay)
