Hey guys, first off a little background.

We are team Lemonparty for the 24 Hours of LeMons (www.24hoursoflemons.com)

We have just aqquired a 91 Mirage hatch for the race....We only have about $100 to spend on suspension (per race rules on total vehicle cost) and we really need to stiffen up our springs/struts.

I have tried installing suspension spacers & shackles into the rear of the car....but this stuff is just too damned old and the car still bounces like Captain Kangaroo

Wondering what we might find in junkyards or ebay that will stiffen up our front & rear suspension.....There's gotta be something out there!

Thanks in advance!

Install a used set of struts and springs from a 90-94 AWD DSM. You can also cut the front springs and that will make the car sit about 2" lower. Stiffens things up quite a bit and makes it handle much better for only a few bucks.

Will all 4 struts/springs bolt right up?

Is there anything I can do swaybar wise?

You can order the oem turbo colt sway bar from vintage parts thru a mitsu dealer. They have 1 or 2 left and theyre something like $75 bux.

You will have to press the stock metal lower bushings out of the rear Colt struts and use them on the DSM struts. For the fronts you'll have to cut about 1-2 coils off and then use the Colt's upper strut mount. There is a writeup in the Archives labeled "Budget suspension upgrade" or something like that.

You'll be good to go with 4 AWD shocks/springs. Should be well under $100.

Thanks for the tip! I forgot about Upull! They have a 90 Mirage 4d in stock, do you know if the front glass is the same as the hatch?

P.S. We managed to strip off almost 100lbs from the car so far, did you ever weigh it in the state that you sold it to us in?

Not sure....Stock weight is about 2200lbs though....I figure you probably eliminated a few hundred pounds of it.
