We all hate the hubs on our cars. The brakes are difficult and expensive to change.

Currently the following hubs/knuckles have been fitted to c/m's successfully, but they all have camber and bumpsteer problems.

- Galant GVR4 hubs (90-92NT galant hubs also)
- 90-94 Eclipse 5 lug hubs

The camber problem can be fixed with camber correction bolts from Napa, the bumpsteer problem is caused by the tierods mounting opposite of the way they mount on the c/m's. This could be corrected by having the hubs modified to mount the tierods the other way, getting different tierods or relocating the steering rack.

If you have fitted other hubs to the car let us know.

Here are some possible candidates.
- 4G Mirage
- Hyundai models?
- Mitsubishi EXPO hubs?

It may also be possible to fit other hubs inside the original knuckles. Whenever I get a chance I plan on trying some combinations.

early 3 series rims will fit as well, the only difference is the center hole, it is HUGE compared to ALOT of other cars.

Jmauld:

I think you are on to something here with the 4g hub swap... I went to the wreckers today they had a few 3g colts and a lonely 4g I eye balled the hubs and they DO look like they will bolt up. I didn't have the socket to remove the CV joint else I would have sized them up for good measure... But all the mounting points look right. Now I only examined the front... there were no 3g's with rear disks so there was nothing to compare with rear wise..... I have to go back later in the week for some other stuff I saw on some VW's I'll try and look then.... BTW what size is the bolt for the CV joint it looks like it around 30mm? I've never done CVs on this car so I don't know.... Anything else I should know or any other tools I should take with me??? Thanks...

Might work, I dunno, they looked the same. And they don't have those stupid bolt heads. Can actually change the rotor like a normal car.

I'm more interested in the TEL 1G swap. Can anyone comment on this? I have an entire 1G awd as a parts car, and would love to give this a shot. Anyhting special needed? I have the rotors, calipers, everything.

Heh... I have the gumption to change a crankshaft in the colt, but hedge a bit on swapping brakes. I'm really getting tired of laying underneath this thing.

another thing to take to the wrecking yard, an adjsutable B.F.H. , a.k.a. a big eff'n hammer and maybe some haet, likea torch, depends on whereabouts in the country you live. mebbe a battery operated sawzall as well, they work wonders, jsut be careful.

I'm in the process on converting from hubs and super small rotors on the front of my 92 colt to the 4 wheel disc that came stock on the 89 colt gt. everything seems perfect and should fit.
