hey guys,
i'm really starting to have a problem with my 89 non turbo colt. it just began idling really rough and i havnt done much of anything to the car. the only thing that i have done is to take out the air silencer from the air intake. the car is idling so bad at times that it actually shuts off, but will start right up.....i gave it a tune up (plugs, wires, cap)....dunno what to do, any ideas

air silencer? by that do you mean the honey-comb?

If so, thats not a good thing as the MAS needs it to get an accurate reading. (not 100% true, but we can clarify that later)

If you think the removal of that piece is causing the rough idle, put it back in and see if it goes away.

If it is indeed the honeycombs that you took out, then you REALLY need those put back in.

There should not be any problems because of air silencer removal,
Otherwise it is not recommended to do any shit with the honeycomb.
It's rather serious..

the air silencer is not the honey comb....if you look on the opposite end, u'll see a white star shaped thing - that is the air silencer...shouldnt be any harm in taking it off i was just seeing if anyone knew of any harm being done because of it....thanx for the suggestions
