Hi..i have a 90 lancer glx with a 4g15 carb engine, lately my tachometer will work erraticly like jump up an down then stop working for a days, then randomly start working again.
I know there is some kind of fault in the pickup sensor on the distibutor(those white and blue wires going into the distributor)it sometimes will crank and wont start and then i press down on the 2 wires and starts immediatly, would that have anything to do with the tacho??

Wires that keep the car from starting are a signal to the ECU, and wires that go to your dash ares strictly a visual type of function and don't impede the car starting. That said, if you have loose wiring that impedes the car starting (and probably causes running issues too), then you need to get the wiring diagnosed and any affected wires replaced, and or terminals changed unless there is a bigger issue in the sensor/distributor.
