This trans does not use a conventional clutch fork. It is on a shaft which the lever is pushed by the slave cylinder. The trans has been replaced along with the listed parts.

I think it is still out of adjustment or needs to be bled better. There is a good writeup on youtube for bleeding a dsm clutch, same would apply for you. You can also just unplug that switch under the clutch pedal, that's the first thing I do on my manual Mitsu's. Just make sure it's in neutral when you start it or your foot is on the brake.

That was the first thing I did was adjust the rod and unplugged the switch. Still couldn't get into gear. I had my wife push the clutch pedal while I opened the bleeder and I had excellent flow.

The whole clutch setup is new. I'm frustrated at this. I replaced the clutch with the old trans about 10,000 miles ago and I remember the pedal felt kinda weak for about 2 weeks of driving then it came back.

How old are the master and slave cylinders?

The master cylinder is brand new and i replaced the slave about 10,000 miles ago. The setup worked before the clutch and trans were replaced.

Crack the bleeder and push the slave back in, until it bottoms, crank the bleeder closed at this instant.

Allow the spring in the slave to bring the slave back to it's fully extended, natural position against the rod/fork.

Bleed some more fluid, just in case.

Attempt to move the clutch pedal again, and recheck for proper disengagement of the clutch.

Ive been thinking and been looking at the trans. I might have put the disc in backwards. I know it says flywheel on one side. I think thats why I can only get half travel of the clutch pedal. I will remove the trans this weekend and report my findings.

I removed the trans today to inspect the clutch. The disc was installed correctly and I took the clutch kit back to the part store to exchange it for another kit. Everything looks good. Not sure what is causing this problem.

You wouldn't be able to install the clutch plate backwards, because it wouldn't likely fit back together.

There has to be another issue.

If the spline portions bind, the clutch plate could be held up from releasing properly, yes.

If the input shaft has a rather large groove in it, from wearing on the TOB, then that also could cause binding, and engagement issues.

Did you grease the splines on trans and inner splines in clutch, shift fork points and throw out bearing and shaft? But not over grease

what clutch kit did you get? Is it sprung or unsprung?

I lightly greased the input splines with the supplied grease. Its a Perfection clutch from Advance Auto. I did see the disc said made in China and was not happy to see that. I went and got a warrantied complete clutch kit from them today. The disc has 4 springs on it. I cant think what would cause the pedal to only go half way down on its travel. I drove the car in the garage before I changed the trans and clutch. The clutch pedal felt fine before. So I have to believe the slave cylinder would have to be good.

If you aligned everything 99% and grease everything above I dont know why its acting that way. How did you install the trans? I dropped the engine crossmember to get a good angle to install the trans and pushed it into the engine leaving little for the bolts to pull in, I then supported it then snugged all bolts then torqued top to bottom. Mine probably isnt 100% aligned but it works well. If anyone can tell me a better way im all ears.

I would grease the input splines on trans, inner clutch splines, throw out/pilot bearing and its input shaft aswell as the clutch fork (I think is the name) springs and friction points. I have a f5m21 cable trans so I cant comment on hydraulic crap but that is the extent of my knowledge

Im going to install the new clutch soon and I will grease everything up. Hope it was a defective clutch.

Ok I got my fingers crossed for you, how much was the clutch and what size is it (7 1/4 or 7 7/8) and it came with the proper alignment tool and pilot bearing right? I want to change my clutch in a few months but im looking into the exedy clutch kits @ rockauto which are about $90 + shipping.
