There is a JDM trans on EBay that came out of a 1989-92 mirage with the 1.6. Would this fit my car without modification?

Axle shafts may work that way, yes.

Some have gone that route but it's always hard to document the information and remember it.

If you get it to work, please post parts numbers and some pics of the swap.

It would be nice to have a little more current information regarding swap items.

Turbo KM210 type C53a axles are needed to make the Km210/F5M31 work much like the F5M33 90/91-92.5 FWD DSM transmissions. Must be 25 spline count.

There are some other axle combinations that others use also.

Big axle fitment thread ongoing somewhere in a sticky thread at the top of the forum sections, or other location. Search it and you will find it very quickly.

I'm sorry. Can anybody give me the part number to both side axles for the turbo axles? I'm still figuring out this website.

Can I use Hyundai Elantra axles with the km210?

The elantra axles are going to have the same inner stubs that your 1.5 axles now have. As a matter of fact the 92-95 elantra transmission will work in your car if you can find one. If it were me, I'd keep looking for a direct fit transmission to save you a headache. Especially since you're keeping the 1.5. If you were swapping to a more powerful engine then I'd go through the hassle of dealing with mounts and axles.

Would a F5M22 work without changing axles?

Post subject:  Re: f5m21 trans exploded

I am not sure so dont quote me, but as it says in the axle info as I understand it. The 1.5 axles are a lil bit longer than 1.6 axles. With that being said, too long is better than too short but its not the correct axle. I dont think the small axle length difference will matter but idk. It will work as far as I know but may cause other issues like binding, oil leak and maybe increased seal wear.

I don't believe it will. The difference is the length of the inner axle stubs. The little circlips expand and keep the axle in the diff. The inner stubs on the dsm axles are longer therefore the 1.5 axles won't snap in the diff correctly.

UPDATE. I installed a new flywheel, clutch kit, master cylinder, axles. The problem Im running into is the gears are grinding trying to get it into gear. If I put it in gear and start it the car starts moving even if i slam the clutch pedal down. I have bleed the master cylinder, adjusted the rod to the pedal several times and still the same results. I can drive it down the street but if I stop then I need to shut off the car put it in 1st then start it and go. Any idea what i should do now? Anybody run into this problem? If i adjust the rod too far the car wont start because the clutch switch isnt being contacted when the pedal is depressed.

You need to start under the car to confirm that the clutch fork is centered in the hole with the rubber boot.

Your trans has a slave cylinder right?

While you are safely under a properly supported car, or even at regular height on the ground, peak underneath.

You want to see and feel the clutch fork as it moves to it's maximum travel.

Fork should go just about far enough to almost hit the side of the case on the passenger side of the opening.

Heck, you might as well put a hand on it and confirm it feels like the fork maxes out it's travel via the action iinside with the springs/TOB.

You will feel it through the fork as it reaches this maximum point.

If the fork is not moving far enough, then you are not disengaging the clutch from the flywheel.

This is what severely and prematurely wears out syncros (fibrous in the early models = less forgiving in a short amount of time).

Confirm these actions and we can move backward to find out what isn't bled right, or isn't working properly.

P.S. Was the clutch working properly with the old transmission? IE no hard shifting, etc etc.
