so recently the engine has gotten worse. the first time turning the key the engine will start then die, the second it will start and run but if i put it in drive before fully warmed up the car will die. when cold if i hit the throttle, revs will drop then raise, even fully warm when stopped at lights the car has a very low idle and shakes the whole car. compression is at service limits on 2,3 and 4. #1 is 90 last i checked but it still ran smooth. I just changed the plugs, wires, ignition cap and rotor and PCV. The fuel filter is my suspect at this point, since in 160,000 miles the ignition car and rotor were still factory and i doubt its ever had a timing belt change. would a vacuum leak on a N/A car cause this? all lines look good but i have not presurized them to be sure. any help or past experience would be great.

Considering what came out of your last fuel tank, it never hurts to put in a new fuel filter.

Also, consider looking at the ISC setup once fuel it dealt with.

If the ISC channels and TB have never been cleaned up, they are likely quite dirty, especially with

EGR/combustion soot backing up into the intake tract.
