We got them here in the states with the 4G32BT (turbo 1.6L). Not sure what they came in over there though.

@Mechacode cool I will be on the lookout for a 4g32bt engine.

Do you know if its possible to put a 4g15 12 valve engine carb version in my Lancer (C10a) chassis? Currently I have the 4g13 12 valve carb and they look about the same to me. If I were to do that swap does the hp difference feel any much different? I wouldn't do the swap anytime soon because my engine still feels great and only has 150,000km on the clock, but just for future knowledge.

Thanks in advance :supz:

It would probably fit directly in place but I doubt it would be worth the effort. The EFI 4g15's only had 88-92hp depending on the year, I would guess that the carb'd versions had even less, not that big of a jump from your current engine.

Thanks again Mechacode,

I wouldn't swap anytime soon but I have seen 4g15's 12 valves both efi and carb engines for sale around $300. I was thinking when my engine finally does hit the bricks, putting a 4g15 would gain a little more hp. I know its not a huge difference but its still a slight upgrade.

I love the body style of 80s Japanese cars, I don't want to buy a new round boring car. I'l keep my 4g13 and future 4g15 alive for years and years to come

You could always go with a 4g61 or n/a 4g63, those would both give you some power over the 4g12 and they came in a lot of cars through the 90's, both mitsubishi and hyundai.

Is it like this one? I've seen a couple, one engine has a red valve cover.

From this Thai website, they said the engine in the car is a 4g63. It looks like they wired the fuel injection and fit the engine in. Would I have to upgrade the suspension or a new 5 speed to go along with the 4g63? I have seen 4g63 and 4g61's for sale on Thai sites (where I would have to order mine from).

But like I said I like my current 4g13 12 valve, any project wont be for at least 4 or 5 years.

Yes, like that. You would be best off using a trans that came with a 4g6 motor, the tranny in the car now will bolt up but the clutch is most likely too small and you will burn clutches quickly.

I guess I need an efi fuel tank as well. Since the carb fuel tank is dif right? I'm kinda thinking just to change to the 4g15 carb engine. Do you think its worth the work doing a 4g 61 or 4g63 conversion? Cars here are 50% higher than in the states and I don't feel like doing papers for a new (er) car or paying that much for cars I know aren't worth it. And typically how hard is it to convert from a carb setup to efi? Does it add a lot on to an engine swap? Sorry I've only driven efi Hondas before.

Thanks again for all the great input , I appreciate it. I found a 4g63 na engine for a little over 500$ USD online

It will be a lot of work to change to efi. There are some exotic ($$$$) carb'd 4g63 intakes for sidedraft (individual) carbs but you would be n/a, not turbo. You could swap harnesses to make a 63t work but it is not easy. I don't believe going from a 4g13 to a 4g15 would be worth the effort, it isn't that much more power. Can you find a 4g32b? You could also focus on fixing up the 4g13, port matching the intake, better flowing exhaust, a better carb, getting it tuned, etc.

Hi, I recently found a 4g63 na with 5speed for 1200$ . Do you think it's a good deal?

For the next two or so years I will probably just roll with the 4g13 12 valve I have now and try to do the suggestions you gave me. While searching for parts I came across a 4g13/4g15 performance cam for 190$. A blog stated it upped the HP by 8 and better acceleration with just a stock setup, but also says the idle can be lumpy. Do you think upgrading the cam is a good minor upgrade?

Thanks again for the great input

I wouldn't bother with the cam, that seems like a lot of money that could be spent on other things.

I'm not sure of the exchange rate, is that 63 in US dollars? Seems expensive if it is.

Yes USD 1,200 for the engine and trans. So I'm probably going to hold off for now.

Earlier you mentioned about upgrading the carb, would you know which weber would fit with my engine? I've been reading the proton forums about the 4g13 12 valve and it seems they recommend the weber 40 dcnf.
But also from the weber site it seems like 32-36 dgev is the safe pick.
Thanks in advance

I would go with whatever they recommend. Our 3rd gen CSM's all came with fuel injection here so we don't have much info on carb upgrades.
