I think it's not having locating dowels in the trans. The holes that the bolts go through aren't tight on the bolts so if that's all that's holding the trans to the engine, the trans itself can wiggle. When checking it, it'll appear to be tight but under load, the trans will wiggle enough for the flywheel to grind on it's case.

If they can't figure it out, I'd suggest pulling the flywheel and checking the inner circumference for wear marks where the edge of the clutch disc's edge would have contacted it, this would suggest the trans moving slightly in relation to the engine.

I've taken it to a trans shop, no word back yet on it though. I just said screw it, let them figure it out. But, the only reason I want to doubt the dowels is that I ran without any dowels for over 6 months, around 7K miles and nothing went wrong. Even dropped the engine, cleaned the bay, and put it back and ran for 2 more months after than until issues arised. Butttt, who knows. I'll let you guys in on it as soon as I learn it.

Btw, slow days on night shift SUUUUCKKK

The bolt holes could have stripped out a little bit and let the trans move. It's a tight clearance, doesn't take much movement.

How's the progress? Found the dowel pins if you still need them $4. http://www.rtmracing.com/xcart/product. ... 317&page=3

Put ALL your bolts in before you start it again..... The tranny HAS to be flush to the block.

Found the issue, The main two bolts holding the tranny to the block snapped so cleanly it looked as if someone angle grinded then sanded them down. Didn't even realize there were bolt holes to be filled. Got them backed out and replaced and everything is going fine now. Thought I'd let everyone know.

Nice, glad you found the issue but the housing isn't threaded on the main bolts, just on the block correct? Figured the bolts heads would have just fell out making it obvious..

You are correct, but for some reason, I have quite a few hole where bolts can go through my trans, which dont lead to bolt holes in the block. I just assumed those were also the case. Regardless, I couldn't get teh bolts backed out my self and had to tow the Colt to a shop and have them do it. They did great, and if anyone in the Louisville area wants a nice trans/mechanical shop, Mr. Transmission in the Okalona area was amazing. Even gave me a great discount, for "not being an ignorant fruit and banana" lol
