Can I use an ECU from 4G15 12V to my 4G15 8V engine? Another thing is a JDM ECU to my USDM engine? thanks

The last time I replaced the ecu on my 92 12-valve colt, I used an ecu that was labled 89 thru 91 8-valve: I didn't have any problems at all. As for JDM and USDM difference, I couldn't tell you.

its very hard to find USDM ecu here in the Philippines, the available parts are all JDM

How about and PHDM ECU or from New Zealand can I use to my USDM engine? thanks

If the engines use the same sensors and distributor then the ECUs should be interchangeable.

a 12V and 8V engine have hug difference but base on my search its interchangeable..

my worry is on JDM or PHDM to USDM engine. is there a cause of short circuit if i'll try to crank it on my USM engine? or on either way just to verify my USDM ECU if really bad or not ..thanks

We have 8v's and 12v's ecu's here in usa. As far as changing them and not changing other items on the car-not sure if that would make your car run right but it will plug in the connectors on the ecu end.

I have tried both ECUs in both an 8v and a 12v car and they all worked without issue. I would put anyone I have that works in either motor.

The differences usually are only because of emissions, and generations between boards. Some old ECU's were dual board, but I don't know if that was only for the 4g61/67/63/64 motors DOHC or if SOHC like the 4g15/13 got this also. If you use an ECU that was meant for EGR whether Federal or California from North America (USDM) it should work with everything on a JDM motor as long as they have all the same sensors style. Best thing to do is post some pictures of the connectors, and post a link for us to look at. I would think alot of the wiring colors would match up pretty well, but not all. Some cars had other features like city lights, but the ECU does not control those anyways, you only have to worry about the motor/fuel/spark,exhaust (02 sensor to match to the ECU - JDM or USDM). That is about all I can think of.

8V and 15V from the same model of car otherwise, as stated by the others, normally works .... very few exceptions so far.
