This has 2 vaccuum lines running thru it and goes to the charcoal canister like its a solenoid that opens to recirculate tank fumes.. Can I just unplug it and take it off. And what do I do to the vapor line running to the tank coming out of the firewall? Just leave it uncovered? Seems like the best plan.

I'm pretty sure it's called the purge solenoid, but I don't know the best way to hack it either.

I'm pretty sure you can just remove it all, but you should probably leave the line vented so all kinds of fuel vapor can build up in the engine bay... or not. But I don't think plugging it would be a good option either.

The gas tank definitely has to have an open air vent otherwise as fuel is removed from the tank it will begin to build vacuum pressure. By removing the charcoal canister you may begin to smell gas fumes.

Want to get rid of the crusty charcoal canister when I change the fuel filter. Some of the lines are cracked and figured since the only other thing attatched to the canister is the solenoid, why not, plus it will get rid of another unneeded vaccuum line.

Weight reduction is the best reason. Takes weight off the heaviest part of the car.

Id love to get on the biggest loser to be honest. I had gastric bypass surgery in Feb. 03' and by jan 04' had lost about 340 pounds. I started at 670  I then had a lower body lift which took of almost 20 pounds of skin.. I gained a few pounds over the next year and my weight was at a stable 330-340. Then in 08' started to pick up weight and was up to 390. Then found out that my thyroid was not producing and had a hard time fighting the calories then, but now on Synthroid for hypothyroidism. My weight is slowly coming off, but not too fast. I have been lifting and doing cardio at the ymca for the past year, but havent been there in the past month due to moving and all the family bullshit.. Yeah, the surgery is kinda a magic bullet for a short time. It fixes the body, but not the brain. Follow up surgeries are also needed which is what im working on now.

Rich
