Anyone know if the 4G short shifter will work with the 89-92 shifter base? I tried to install a short shifter kit from a 1G DSM before and it didn't work because they are setup differently. I want an actual short shifter made for our 3gs but I'm having ALOT of trouble finding them unless I just cut the top shorter (which I did on my sedan and it's not really much of an upgrade unless you cut the bottom of the shifter itself and weld it back on...I had a really nice Neuspeed short shifter for my Integra and it was awesome.

you do know that the dsm short shifters dont really shorten the shift pattern very much..there mostly just shorter in height.. if u want it to be a shorter throw..then do the mod to the trans shift lever.. I have done it on 2 cars now and love it.

OK...how is this done? Just drill a hole a little further in from the post that it connects to from the factory? Do you happen to have any pics? I thought that mod was only for adapting a DSM trans to a CSM.

I checked my 4G61 NA 5 speed shifter arm and it has a step in it that drops down and there's not enough room to drill another hole in it. It's not flat and straight like the one in the pic is.

You can try to remove the arm that is on the trans and replace it with a strait-style arm. But be prepared, it is a fight and a half to get them off clean. Be sure to invest in a GOOD punch to push the pin out.
