I have an 89 1.5L(X) and it is running very bad. Check engine light is on as expected.
I hooked up the TMO to find that:

* ECU ID is 1.8L – E019
* ECU Errors- there are 5 of them
12-Air Flow Sensor
13 Air Temp Sensor
15 Coolant Temp Sensor = (-62*)
25 Barometric Pressure Sensor = 1.24Bar
*Battery = 18.7v // Tested at Battery terminals = 13.6Vdc
*TPS = 100%
*O2 Sensor = 4.98Vdc

Okay, so likely someone tossed a 1.8L ECU in to get it to run, when I get home tonight I will pull the panel to see what I have.
I do have a ECU from a 94 1.5L(A), is it possible to swap some pins at the ECU and use it or do I have to purchase one of the 1.5L(X) ECUs avialable.
According to the list at the link I am posting there are other versions/model numbers available.

This could be very useful in the future check it out:

Thanks,
Joe

The 94 ecu will not work because they do not use a maf sensor like the 3g's do. You will need an ecu from a 89-92 csm with the 1.5L engine. I have a few for cheap in my FS thread but I have no idea if they are good or not because I have no way to test them.

If the 1.8L ecu is good and its from a 90-94 dsm check to see if you have the matching injectors and maf as someone may have upgraded. Then again your car is a 89 model so that is unlikely.

I looked at your FS listing and will take the required ECUs to piece a good one together; as mentioned in the add.
Also what is the MDxxxxx number on the ECU case, I want to cross reference it to the 89 as well.
If I can make it work please provide a quote to 53128.
Thanks,
Joe
