Well today I was going to the beach. It had to be over 90 degrees in stop and go traffic. The temperature in my car was well over its normal point (about halfway on the gauge) it was at the small box between the red marker and the long white marker. I turned off the road full of traffic onto some back roads and the temperature shot right back down to normal very quickly, my question is do I have some sort of problem with cooling? I heard these cars aren't that great in the cooling dept. Are my fans not comming on? It's a 1989 dodge colt 4g15, no mods just intake canister cut.

Your fans might not be coming on, try jumping them to make sure they work. If they do, check the temp sensor on the radiator and the fan relay.
