Lolz

But really, I just had a bad day and didn't mean to snap on youz guys. I know porn surfing is high on my "freetime priority" list too.

I did buy the car about 2 years ago, and at that time I did do a full tune up. Don't remember if a fuel filter was replaced at that time, but I'm sure it was.

It may seem like some easy fixes are listed, but what YOU have to keep in mind is that they are not that easy when doing it out in the street, in the snow and a high of 25 degrees. My tender little fingers cant handle it for periods of time.

But for awhile when it was starting to act up, it seemed to start "better" on the "warmer" days. I mean warmer like 35 to 50, anything under that and it seemed harder to start. Now that all we are getting is sub 32 deg. its was giving me issues.

I'm going to be a dick again and say suck it up :D I did a tranny swap/clutch install in 120 degree weather at my apartments parking lot, right after taking my Physical readyness test in 114 degree weather. I needed to get to work. buy yourself a portable heater or a halogen shop light to warm you up. Also... network! See if lilevo can help you out in anyway.

Yea, we talked briefly. He is mainly probably gonna help me with a 4G63T swap once the temp starts staying above 45 or so... At least thats when I wanna start it. I'll check on those little things- and as far as extremes go, I did some of my own too last year. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I had to swap the trans out on the car. Plus side was that I did do it in a garage, down side is that I took it out in near 0 temps and the garage was not heated nor insulated. Oh yes, it was cold.

Well, last couple times, I have gotten my car to start to move it. Weird.

Okay, methinks it may be a fuel issue. Filter was replaced about 2 years ago.

What I did: took off the distributor cap and scraped off some the shit that was built up on the contacts. Put it back on and started up the car. It is warm today so the car started up right away and idled fine. I let it run a bit then did the test- I shut the car off then tried to start it. Fail.

It was fairly hard to start. I had to flip the throttle alot until it finally started- and after that I had to keep my foot in it to keep it from dying because of the shitty idle. WTF?!?!?!

Now I think about fuel. Pump is good. It either works or it don't. Injectors- maybe, I do have a spare set, but they're a pain and I'll nail that out last.

Filter- possibly if its blocked. Cheap part, and fairly easy, so I'll do that a bit later. But before I do someone suggested the fuel pressure regulator...

Would the FPR really cause this behavior? Does it even go bad? Please let me know.

Which temp sensor did you replace? Some of them are just for the fans or the gauge in the instrument cluster? Is it possible you replaced one of those instead of the one that sends info to the ecu?

Sorry if I missed it but is the check engine light on? Also, when it does run do you hear any clicking coming from around the radio?

The sensor was the one that is under the thermostat housing, under the air intake (about there). I didn't know there was more than one temp sensor.

No clicking sound from around the radio. Or none that I really notice.

Check engine light is not on, but every so often it does come on for a few minutes while I'm driving but then it goes away. I think thats just due to the 4G37 stuffs installed tho.

The '37 stuff won't cause a cel. The sensor you should have replaced would have 2 prongs on it. You can have the (1.5) fuel pump I took out of my colt when I went to a 255hp if you end up needing one.

Heres a suggestion. This is just an issue I had with a GSX once. For months the car would start intermittently, sometimes I had luck sometimes I would get stranded. It ended up being the ignition switch. To this day it will only start if I turn the key with light upwards pressure???

Like someone stated earlier, you have the hardest problem to diagnose. all you can do is try everything one step on a time. youll figure it out eventually.

Good Luck.

Yea, it looks alot like that. Except the prongs were not sticking out, they were in the receiving end of a connector. But yea, that is pretty much what I replaced. Right under the thermostat housing.

Well, to try and describe the problem better:

The engine will turn over normally, but will not start. Sometimes it will studder slightly like it will start or like one or two cylinders fired then died.

Sometime when at idle (cold), it seems like a cylinder misfires and bogs it down a bit then revs back up. But mostly it will just die at that point, hence the reason I have to keep some throttle in it.

Sounds like you replaced this one, which turns the fans on and has nothing to do with the ecu.

Yea, 'tis the one I replaced... shit. Where is the other one located on the car???

Edit: Is it by the lower radiator hose on the radiator?

The one on the radiator is for the other fan, it should be somewhere on the t-stat housing.

There are 3 temp sensors, one for the ecu (with two prongs sticking out), one for the gauge cluster (one prong), and one for the fans (connector). Do the two pronged sensor and if that doesn't take care of it, swap in another ecu.
