Im doing a tune up on the whole engine.

I have always bought the cheapest parts for a tune up, just wondering if paying a lil more would show. Not looking for more HP. I just used of hearing "you get what you pay for" but on a basic tune-up?

Not on a 4g15. Four new champion plugs at walmart for $5 and a set of $25 wires and you're set.

NGK BPR5ES-11, shouldn't be more than $2 per plug at your local auto parts store.

Ok well now i have ran into problems. I have a Chilton book i have been refering to. The book tells me fireing order in 1342, which you guys say that to. "i did researched" Heres the problem, the Chilton book says the firing order goes counter clockwise, but you guys say it goes clock wise. "Which is correct"? Well i thought i had everything hook up right, and tryed to start the car, it wouldnt start. After trying to turn over, a LOUD back fire! With a lil white smoke coming out the muffler. What am i doing wrong guys? Did i fruit and banana anything up? Car ran great before i change the plugs. Please help.

f'meng. there's four wires, could've just replaced them one by one and been good. or, you could try BOTH ways, one should work. there's only so many combinations. did you gap the plugs?

in cars, and especially mitsubishi's, a pioneering and persevering spirit will get you farther then a forum. try new things, try to think for yourself. for perspective, the finest members on an automotive forum are rarely heavy posters, because they're too busy in the garage and their hands are too dirty to use a keyboard  you'll get it after awhille

But im not going to make anything worse? By switch all this around?
I mean i could get out there and figure it out, i just dont want to mess anything else up in the process. The car is back fireing really loud. I dont know if it suppose to do that when the firing is wrong? If thats the case, i will get out there and start switching plugs and trying to turn it over.

Thanks man

Try it clockwise, doesn't work, try it counterclockwise. If neither way works, then you're probably doing something wrong.
