180,274 (290109.4 km) on the '92 Summit and the car is falling apart. Transmission failing, suspension clunking, rotors warped, head gasket leak (water into cyl), oil leak, Idle speed not adjusting. Besides that it's a great car.

Second owner of a 91 sedan with 206 000 Kms (128K mi). It had a 92 1.5L engine with a rebuilt head on it when I picked it up for 500. The 5 speed did not have 4th and made a very bad noise when the clutch was disengaged, but still drove 1-2-3-5 + R,..... I pulled that powertrain about a year ago and it's currently waiting for my lazy overworked ass to fire up the fresh 2L in it.

j2dapo,

How long (miles) did you go with the howl and without 4th? My throwout bearing been howling since I got the car and
I recently lost 4th gear (won't even stay with brute force), was hoping to make it another 20,000 miles with the motor/tranny.

Sorry, ^

I can't comment on the duration of such a tranny fault. I didn't really drive the car much with it missing the 4th before I parked it pulled the 1.5l. Also the original owner recently put a clutch and TOB in it. When I pulled it apart the TOB looked good.

John

310,000 miles on '91 summit 4 spd until 4th gear started popping out.

Picked up a '91 mirage with 85,000 on it for $50. It was sitting in a bunch of weeds 5 blocks away!
