Well I went outside today to size up the swap project that I'm going to start in a few weeks. One question that I had was whether or not the 5spd shifter base would directly bolt up to the floor in the same holes that the auto shifter was mounted on. I found out that the two bottom holes lined up but the two tops were off about half an inch on both sides. Luckily the two bottom holes line up, so what i did while i had it apart was move the auto shifter to the side and bolted the 5spd shifter down with the two bottom holes that lined up. then i took a black sharpie and make marks on the floor where the two top holes were. so when im ready for the swap hopefully all i should have to do is drill two holes in the floor and use nuts and bolts to hold it down. I'll get underneath the car and put nuts on the bolts that i put through the floor and then put silicone all over the nut and bolt and hole to keep water from getting in the inside the car. I took some pics of what i did so far and ill take alot more pics as i go along so hopefully this can be a fully detailed walk through on how to do the swap. :D

The two bolts with the red circles are the two holes that lined up perfectly. The two holes with the blue circles are the two that are off about a half an inch.

So this is the point where i took my sharpie and marked the holes where the top bolts go. Thats all i really wanted to do today with that. When i do the swap im going to take the dash out and mount my new brake pedal and clutch pedal. ill be taking pics everystep of the way. :drinkers:

Theirs already places indented in the metal where the top 2 holes are suppost to go. All i did was drill in those spots tap the holes and the shifter lined right up.

Drill holes, run bolts. It's that easy.
