Like the title states i'd like to know if a dsm tps is the same as a 4g15 tps.
Also if it is does it matter if it is from a `90 or `91-94???

I noticed they are both 4 pin with #3 being blank.
I haven't had a chance to compare them side by side but will do tommorrow.
I'm thinking of trying to swap a `90 TPS in case the 4G15 is truly shot.
Any thoughts, ideas and suggestions are welcome.
Thank you.

I'm guessing no one has tried this.
Since i am in a hurry to get this car on the road i'll be the guinea pig.
The 91-94 style tps seems to have the same 4 pin connector and the same ohm resistance.
They also seem to look very similar in size and shape.
I have yet to hold them side by side.
If i had one it'd be on the car and i'd be driving it. :D
Any input or ideas?

Im going to guess they're pretty similar.

On my 88 colt I put a ISC from a 89 MPI car, they are the same, just have a different mounting bracket. And you know that I put a 1.8l isc onto my 91 summit 1.5l TB and it worked.

Like you said, testing, and setting them is the same in terms of voltages and resistance.

I just got a picture of what a 91-94 looks like.
It looks almost identical to the 1.5l tps.
It should be here Wednesday or Tuesday if i'm lucky.

It's nothing against you j2dapo i just need a tps asap.
I need to take my other car off the road already.
It is starting to get cold here and driving in a gutted csm isn't very comfortable.

It is going to be a change driving an auto now.
At least i can wrench on one car without worrying about driving it to work the next day.
:D

Alright i had good news and bad news.
The tps j2dapo sent me got here 7 days early.
The bad news is it won't work.
It doesn't look the same and it has a completely different plug.
It is also a 5 pin connector unlike the 4 pin i need.

I'll just wait for the dsm tps to get here Wednesday.
This sucks.

Nothing against j2dapo since he had no idea.
Is it possible Canadian cars have different sensor types?

Mistakes happen.
All is forgiven.
I just have to wait for this dsm tps to get here so i can try it out.
It looks exactly like the 1.5l tps and has the same plug/pin connections.

I guess this can be noted as a helpful note.
The `91-94 DSM TPS bolts up and works as a replacement for the 1.5l tps.
The car is clear of CEL's and the tps is working fine.

Unfortunately for me the car is still having the same problem.
I figured the tps would clear it up but i have to do some more digging.
I'm having the same exact problem lilevo had on his 95.
The car bogs at anything above part throttle.
I'm going to borrow a timing light and check/set the timing.
Hopefully this is the solution to my problem.
