Post subject:  hasnt been started

i have a c/s/m that hasnt been started in about 3 years. It was a hobbie and i am thinking about getting back into it. Im a diesel machanic by day and want something to do at night so i am thinking about getting back into working on my car. When i stoped working on it the motor was just redone from top to bottom and the head was ported and polished and every thing was put back togher and ran great. I ran it a few times after that and now it sits.

Ok my qushtion is is there anything i should do before trying to start the car? i know the tank need dreained but what other things should i do. I have 1000.00 in porting and polishing and dont want to mess it up or any thing else
please let me know you guys know about these cars so i thought i would ask thank you for any advice.

I agree. Start it and see what, if anything, breaks. If you kept the cap on the gas tank, the gas may even still be good.

Check the filters, plugs, and pumps to be sure they're fine. Drain the tank as you said, and give her a go!

I'd pull the ECU fuse to stop it from starting and just crank it a few times to make sure it still builds oil pressure. So long as oil pressure comes up you shouldn't have any worries.

ok yesterday i tryed to start my can i pulled the plugs and oiled the cyclenders and nothing so we sprayed fuel in the intake mani and it started and smoked like crazy then stoped so i drained the tank and put new gas into it the old gas stank like you would not beleave like paint thinner anyway still wouldnt start so i pulled the gas lines off at the filter and made sure the harnes was connected in the hole under the back seat and still nothing so i took the fuel line off at the filter and bone dry no gas

my qushtion is a fuel pump ?

anyone else ever had this problem is it eletrical of just the fuel pump?

also is there any upgrades regaurding fuel pumps? with out messing with the lines or injectors and redoing the whole system with new or custom stuff i just want it to start and stay running

just read something about the caps on the ecu drying out the car sat for 3 years on the doors its cracked from the sun and heat and were not like that before and im having the same problem no sound at the pump nothing

Jumper the fuel pump connector in the engine bay. Do you hear the fuel pump spinning? if no, then possible fuel pump bad. if you can, pop off fuel filter and see if you get fuel coming out of hard line to fuel filter. If you do, then it's the fuel filter, if not, it's fuel pump or a soft line/hard line between there. Could even be a clogged filter sock.

where At in the engine bay what am i looking for ?
also what wires are what at the pump under the back seat if i can recall there is three i think
whats pos and neg? i can jump it there with a 12volt power sourse back there or take it out and hook a 9volt battery up to it and see if the pump runs cant i ?

there is no fuel in the lines at the two way valve on the side of the tank the blue type thing on the pass. side nothing bone dry its even chalky like a new hose would be this is on the inside of the hoses

ok took a test light and checked to see if there is power in the harness for the pump in that round hole under the back seat so i am guessing the pump is bad there is power there but the pumps not running any suggestions is there a better pump than stock i can put in or should i just get one from a junkyard or can i use just about any fuel pump in the car like one out of a vw or similer displamnet motor to mine ?

Whatever you do DONT get a Walbro 255. A Walbro 190 would work and it wont overrun the stock FPR like the 255 will.
